"The Boss" and "The King" Both Reach Double Platinum Stones' "Hot Rocks" Certified Diamond
WASHINGTON, November 4, 2002 -- Two of the year's most eagerly anticipated releases by two of music's most recognizable names, "The Rising" by Bruce Springsteen and "ELV1S: 30 #1 Hits" by Elvis Presley, each earned double Platinum honors in October, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Springsteen's first album with the legendary E Street Band since the Diamond certified "Born In The U.S.A.," "The Rising" was certified Gold, Platinum and double Platinum giving the New Jersey native an impressive cumulative album sales total of more than 58 million over his three decade long career.
"Before Anyone Did Anything, Elvis Did Everything" was the tag line that ushered in a new, re-mastered hits package from RCA to commemorate the life and career of Elvis Presley. "ELV1S: 30 #1 Hits" was also certified Gold, Platinum and double Platinum moving "The King's" sales total to more than 102 million albums in the U.S. alone.
The legendary Rolling Stones joined the elite group of artists who have received an RIAA Diamond award when ABKCO's "Hot Rocks" was certified for sales of more than 12 million copies and remains the band's highest certified album. The Stones also moved up a few notches to become the 12th highest certified artist while remaining the seventh highest certified band in U.S. music history.
