I was born in a crawfire hurricane
And I howled at my maw in the drivey ray
But it's all right now, in facts a gas
But it's all right
I'm Jumping Jack Flash, it's a gas, gas, gas yall
I was raised by a toothless, beer done hag
I was screwed with a strap right across my back
I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead
I fell down to my feet and I sawed off bled
Yeah, yeah, I frowned at the cums a custy bed
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was crowned with a spike right through my head
But it's all right now, in facts a gas
I'm Jumping Jack Flash, it's a gas, gas, gas

JUMPING JACK FLASH!
The best of the Rolling Stones, which is to say, the best of any music at all.
When it all boils down to it, there is nothing better to do in this godforsaken world than increase the amps and listen to Jumpin' Jack Flash!!!!!!!

As you all know, I am a champion of the cause of Midnight Rambler.
JJF is the only song on the same plateau...a peer, if you will, of MR.
Good Ganesh, I do love it. |

If the only thing the Rolling Stones ever did was Jumping Jack Flash, they would still be one of the greatest bands ever.
That is the fucking baddest song that ever lived on this planet. |
|
Phog |
"Jumpin' Jack Flash" is as close to perfect as we will ever see. |

>and the best version is the original, no other comes close
correct. easily the best Stones single of all. I NEVER get tired of the original even though I've heard it countless times! |
|
Shockspeeder |
Yeah I just listen and write. |
|
padre |
The song is the greatest rock'n'roll song ever recorded. The only one coming even close is Jimi's version of All Along The Watchtower.
The studio version is the best, but what would be the worst take of the song? Is it Hyde Park? |
|
corgi37 |
I think Hyde park has its charm, but only when watching the video/dvd, not merely listening to it. I really love the Rock n roll circus version. Slow and mean, with ya-ya's similar, but even better!! I adore the heavy metal, speeded up, overblown, grandiose Love you live version too. Simply cause i reckon it suits the "spectacle" of a closing song. Speaking of which, Voodoo Lounge was awesome. All lights on MAX, and fireworks right on the last ringing note. But, all in all, the original beats them all. What about the story that Bill Wyman reckons HE came up with the riff. Hard to imagine the same guy who wrote In another land coming up with JJF. But, the NEXT obvious question is....Which film clip is best? The color version with the make-up, or the black and white version with what could be live vocals? I love the former, but cant dismiss the latter. |

Yes no other version comes close as Brian is not there playing anymore |
|
JaggaRichards |
JJF sounds better today than it did in '68.
Not that it ever sounded bad to start with.
BTW, the best live JJF is in the Gimme Shelter movie, |
|
JaggerLips |
Love JJ FLASH as I love all their songs.
MIDNIGHT RAMBLER, GIMMIE SHELTER, SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL AND UNDERCOVER OF THE NIGHT not to mention SAINT OF ME, OUT OF CONTROL, PAINT IT BLACK all rock my world, Geee I really don't have a favourite song as it depends on the mood I am in at the time one day it could be MISS YOU the next it could be MEMO FROM TURNER such is the nature of being a Stones fan!!!!!!!
I'll drink to anything really. |
