nankerphelge No, what he needs to do is learn what an absolute idiot he is.

Tell me, under what circumstances would it ever be funny to mock the intelligence of our servicemen and women? How can that possibly be funny.

Take you time, practice in front of a mirror, try different facial expressions and deliveries, time it for maximum effect!!!

Hey, guess what raspy -- it ain't funny.

A couple of weeks ago, when the Foley mess erupted, all the "right wingers" here admitted that it was horrible and we all noted that you lefties cannot admit when you fuck up. You dig your heels in every time. Well, congrats, you did it again.

God that John Kerry.
What a funny guy!!!

jb He clearly was not mocking the intelligence of our troops, but rather, the President, who put these heroes there with no adequate post war plan.(even you republicans agree with that). Kerry , however, is an idiot as he simply should have said " I am sorry if anyone took it as an insult to the troop", etc. Bottom line, it give the right wingers some juice at the last minute. In the end, looks like the dems get the house, and republcans keep the senate...big fucking deal!!!

rasputin56 HAs anyone even tried to decipher what he actually said and made sense out of it without it being a botched joke? Did any of the right wing nuts hear the entire speech and put the one line into the context of the speech and still come away with it as an insult to our troops? Of course not. They got their marching orders and ran with it.

Typical of the cowards in this Administration and those who do their bidding to hide behind the "troops" to keep from talking about their failed policies which certainly aren't benefitting our troops this month. Very sad that this all they have left. John Kerry has done more for our servicemen and women over the years than any member of the Republican party. He has apoligized for making his botched joke. Time to move on.
1st November 2006 11:32 AM
nankerphelge Kerry was the one that said it was a botched joke!!

And I repeat -- under what circumstances could that possibly be taken as a joke?

Even if it was meant as a dig at the Admin, using our armed service people as the butt of that joke is beyond stupid -- it is sickening. And it would be bad enough if some chowderhead like Sean Penn did it -- BUT this is a US Senator that served in that military and who is thinking about running for Prez again.

If his handlers thought this was funny, it shows the competence of his would-be Administration.

If they didn't know about it and the "joke" was John Kerry off-the-cuff, he is simply incompetent politically!

Which is it stupidity or incompetence?

Hard to decide!

I agree to an extent...it was not a joke and the cover-up is as always worse than the crime. It was a statement intended to knoeck the intelligence of thr Prez-which in and of itself, is stupid. Bush is , imo, very intelligent and has has used these insults as an advantage. Moreover, middle-america never likes what they percieve as an elite north easterner, knocking the in telligence of the Prez. Overall, a stupid move by Kerry, but certainly not enough to change the outcome of the election. It is probably a good thing to have a spilt congress as they will have to compromise to get anything done.

No it wasn't jb...he was pandering to some academic egg heads and stuck his foot in his mouth by speaking his elitist conscience...the Prez has a degree...He made better grades than Kerry and they attended the same college...how the hell is that a dig at him?

I can only imagine what he would say if he were pandering to the "inventors of the internet"

"Education is very important...without it you might end up spending your day posting with other retards on a Rolling Stones message board"

nankerphelge "It was a statement intended to knoeck the intelligence of thr Prez"

Yeah??

Kerry said:
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

Where was Bush, the Administration, or the policies of the above mentioned in the so-called botched joke?

A Kerry spokeswoman, Amy Brundage, said later that the senator's prepared text had called for him to say: "Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush."

Wow -- so close -- easy to see how he botched it!!

I hope you dems do run him in 2008 -- he should take that comedy act on the road!

jb He is not electable as evidenced by his loss to W last time. He is, however, correct in pointing out the stupidity of this administrations actions in post-war Iraq. We all know what that baker report(being held until after the elections) is going to say, and those defeatocrats who argues against "staying the course" will be proven in large part correct. We all know things are not going to remain the same after the elections. It is clear that both dems, and a substantial # of republicans, want a new plan to which will eventually lead to the withdrawal of troops. Yes, Kerry is a doofous, but you cannot, as the GOP machine is so eagerly trying , label all democrats as anit-troops. That is a real insult to the many liberal men and women who have died defending this country. Name calling is what politics is all about these days-the O'Reilleys "secular progressive" to "defeatocrats" is wearing very thin. I sense most americans are somewhere in the middle and simply want to make an honest living, have healthcare, and to have a rationale plan to fight terror.

by him is acceptable.
Millions of US Military families are owed nothing less.
This is no joking matter.

Mikey Yes it was stupid to say and even if it did go over as intended, I think JB's remark about an elite Northeatern poking fun at the President's alledged lack of intelligence is spot-on. Why do it, what is accomplished? Nothing!

That said, I always thought that Bush's joke in 2004 at the WH Correspondance dinner was much, much worse. It was the one where he was poking fun at himself, while showing a clip in the Oval Office, "looking" for WMD.

Here's a story on it. If some Dem made the same joke, the GOP clones would be fucking howling over it....

I disagree. Should the Republicans retain at the very least one house (which they will) or both (very distinct possibility) it will be viewed through their delusional, warped spectacles as some kind of man-date from on high that they were destined to rule. Nothing will change until they start talking tough again in the summer of 08. So it is written. So it shall be done.

I have reviwed most polls, and absent a "florida vote" count, dems will win back the house.

The real insult here is the GOP's use of this and howe stupid they must feel the electorate is ....maybe their right?

Nellcote Please JB.
Go and find a military parent who agrees with his statement,
especially if they are only able to hold photos of their loved ones, not the actual person.
This is far more reprehensible than any swift boat comment.

This is starting to get very sad.

If any of these people truly cared about our servicemen and women, they would be doing all they can to ensure they have the best equipment and that there is a winnable plan to get them out of harms way as soon as possible rather than as referees in a civil war. To truly think that Kerry or any elected official of either party would attempt to insult our finest reveals the blind hatred and extreme partisanship that the Republicans have nurtured and promoted for the past 12 years at least. Good job.

This story has legs! Motherfucking legs! Some of the legs were blown off! We got artificial legs! This story is going to rehab to learn to walk again!!!
Frankenkerry is now saying, "Abby somebody, abby-normal"!

Knock-knock!
Who is there?
Kerry!
Kerry Who?
Kerry you dumb ass to the polls and watch the Dems lose!
LOL!

jb Nellcote, the fact that they(GOP) are using this as election fodder, shows you exactly how little they care about the troops. if they were so upset, they certainly would not be repeating it and or using it for political gain...C'mon, you know exactly what is happening.
