Go ahead, Texile.

In my case, the journalism experience was suck because I used to work to a huge company named "Rede Globo", which is the owner of the main papers, TVs, radio stations, cable TV,
and other kind of medias, from Rio de Janeiro until here, Rio Grande do Sul. A fucking trust with nobody strong enough to go against it. So, i just quit, after work in some small papers...Here in Brasil people use to say that who make the rules is the "Rede Globo".

Yes! They are the same that use to broadcast live the Rolling Stones concerts here. The only decent thing they do.

I spent my early years in the bowels of a cruise ship, where my parents made a living carving images of famous stars out of potato peelings. Though i wasnt blind, it certainly made my fingertips sensitive, which was important as a croupier in Australia's 1st casino. From there, i drifted to the streets. Selling heroin and dodging crooked cops. Mel Gibson nearly ran over me while filming Mad Max, and feeling much guilt, he took me under his wing, and i became his adviser on all things Catholic.

I have 2 penises. 1 for day - and one for night (that glows). I bash my wife every day. I drink urine from a cup marked "Worlds greatest dad" and send money to deserving organisations like Al Queda, Qantas, the female foot fetish society and tattoos anonymous.

I drive a crappy car and I drive my wife to drink. I smoke dope, eat Muslims, drink beer/wine/vinegar (all at the same time) and read porn in church.

Pretty much ya normal suburban W.A.S.P. i reckon.

That whole post was fucking gold Corgi...very funny....laughed my fucking ass off.

corgi37 Ok, serious.

I am Craig. I am 42 (Sept 11, 63). I am bald, short, tubby, and ugly. Live in suburban Melbourne, Australia. I am a public servant for the fuzz. Have been for 21 years. Crap money, but great benefits, particularly when i retire. I have the worst car in history. Real shit box. I have never had a nice car, cause i am just not into cars at all. Married late - 38 - and have 2 kids. Twins. My wife also has twins from her 1st marriage. Though, mine are better.

I mostly hang with people i have known since i was 7. IF not them, then people i have known for minimum 15 years. People seem to like me! What can i say.

Knew about the Stones, but didnt get into them until 78. Miss You, or all songs. I just saw some thing in them that wasnt in the majority of punk bands. I saw real defiance. Defiance against 1st the parents and "THE MAN", but now defiance against the children of their 1st fans, who spurned them. I just dug them so much.

Got kicked out of school in 1980. Booted out Friday, got a frigging job Monday. Putting price labels on nick nacks at our largest shopping mall.

I play drums and guitar. I do neither very well, but i love making a racket. I drink. Smoke. Fool around when i can. I dont gamble much, i have only ever hit a woman once (my wife and she deserved it) and really am well hung.

My dad was a high ranking cop. My Grand dad a middle ranking cop. My Great Grand dad a scoundrel, and my great, great grand dad was very wealthy and famous. He used to own the land where the Southern Cross Hotel stood in the centre of Melbourne. The Beatles stayed there in '64. He came from Oakham, Massachusetts. He used to have the Royal Mail run in rural Victoria. He came out here in 1855 or something. Couple of hunred years prior, from Ireland. 2-300 years prior - Scotland.

My family goes back 900 years or so. A Crawford was the mother of William "Braveheart" Wallace. And yes, a Crawford from our side of the tree.

I've got 3 tatts, and no doubt, will be getting more. I've lost my drivers licence twice for drink driving. I got done for drunk and disorderly in Perth back in 85.

I grew up "upper middle class" and since the twins have verged in "lower middle class", or even, "scumclass". I am just so broke!

I hate my job, but cant be bothered getting a real career. Trouble is, i spent too many years at the "party". Work only allowed my money to have fun. I dont, and never will, live for work. I aint rich, but i will be when my parents croak.

I am not a blokey bloke at all. I hate motor sport. I hate all sport except Aussie Rules. I played it well, and i love watching it. I have no trophies. I never won a thing in my life. I have never succeeded. But, i am adored by women everywhere. 3 times i have been told by different sheilas that i "Know how to talk to us".

I've always loved being with the girls. Though, i love drinking with the boys too. I just hate the work talk, or the mechanical talk, or the boasting sex talk. I love hearing my mates saying how great their sex life is, but i know (after spending all night talking to the girls at parties or bbq's) that he's bullshitting. I have always hated sexual bullshitters.

I am not really patriotic. Well, not in the U.S. "hand on your heart way". Most AUssies aint. I know we live in the best country in the world

I've travelled to Bali, Fiji, Vanuatu, Noumea, China, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong (5 times), L.A. (twice), SF, Vegas (twice), Mexico, Phoenix, Hawaii (twice). I've been to every state in Oz several times. QUeensland i go to every year. I have no desire to see Europe or the U.K. Or frigging Afica.

I love horror movies, namely the zombie type. Fave all time flicks would be "Dawn of the dead", Apocalypse Now, Hair, If, Catch 22.

I used to read alot, but havent had the time lately. Used to like Stephen King, but he got really shitty since early 90's. I love history and bio's. WW2 is a passion for my Dad and me.

Both Grandparents croaked it. Mum & Dad still kicking. Got a bro & 1/2 sis. Wife only has Mum & Bro left. Her sister died 2 months ago. We lost a daughter prior to our twins. Hardest day of my life, but wife had to give birth! I was so proud of her that night.

I love coming here and chatting to the fine folk. Looking forward to meeting my 1st RO'er (EGON) tomorrow. Any of you come to this lovely country, you look old Corgi up.

We got beer to drink and Stones to listen to!

JuanTCB My name's John, I live in Brooklyn, NY, and I'm 33 years old. According to some sources, I was born the day "Exile" came out. I grew up outside of Boston and my two obsessions now (the Stones and the Red Sox) have been going steady since I was a little kid. Seeing the tour kick-off at the home of the (then) defending World Champion Boston Red Sox was a very, very special day for me, to say the least.

My first Stones memory was in 1980 - I saw the "Emotional Rescue" video on some American Bandstand-type of show and thought that Mick was absolutely hilarious. Sometime in the summer of '81, I was rooting through my mom's old LPs in the garage and found her old mono copy of "Out Of Our Heads". Went up to my room, put on Side 2 first, and was totally blown away by "Satisfaction". I remember seeing footage of the rioting around Sir Morgan's Cove on the local news, and got "High Tide & Green Grass" & "Tattoo You" for Christmas, '81. I bought the Tony Sanchez book and "Hot Rocks" with my 10th birthday loot and the full-time obsession really started.

Started playing guitar when I was 12 (after two years on the tennis racket) in order to imitate Keith (though I wound up learning all the basics from Steve Jones). Still going strong 21 years later - I've steadily played in a number of bands since high school and my arsenal is a gorgeous black Les Paul (fellow Bostonians will appreciate that I got it at Building 19) and I recently added a reissue sunburst '57 Strat. A '72 Tele Custom is next up on the docket. I've never played an original lick in my life - my guitar style is a combination of Keith, Mick Taylor, and Ronnie. I don't consider myself to be a musician; instead, playing the guitar is my way of paying homage to the boys.

I first saw Keith at the Orpheum in Boston on the "Talk Is Cheap" tour and finally saw the Stones in '89 in Foxboro. After the "Continental Drift" intro and the big explosion, the first thing I saw was the drum kit. I very calmly thought to myself "That's Charlie Watts" and then I fainted. All good, though - I was back up on my feet as soon as I hit the ground. Since then, I've seen them 14 times and had the pleasure of meeting Keith and being completely speechless in the process.

Unemployed right now, though I've been working in the music business for the last 12 years or so - label jobs, band management, and journalism - but I'm sick of being broke & sick of dealing with musicians & club owners so I'm going straight and currently interviewing for marketing jobs in Corporate America. I miss health insurance and discretionary income!

I've travelled extensively through Spain and been to London 5 or 6 times but my favorite place in the world is Buenos Aires.

I'm a huge rock geek and if I had to say who my favorite bands are aside from the Stones, I'd go with Elvis Presley, The Who, Sex Pistols, Bill Berry era-R.E.M., Misfits, Oasis, Supergrass, Cheap Trick, and Green Day. I'm a sucker for the big pop hook/loud guitar combo. And don't even get me started on the Monkees.

Favorite beer: Harpoon IPA (now available at my corner deli - there is a god and it would appear that he loves me)

Favorite liquor: Maker's Mark (or better small-batch bourbon when I can afford it)

Favorite wine: Malbecs & bonardas. I like the heavy Argie reds.

FPM C10 Well, I generally don't like to reveal much info on the internets, because there are all sorts of nuts out there, but everyone else is, so here goes:

I was born on July 6, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut, and grew up in Midland and Houston, Texas. I received a bachelor’s degree in history (with a solid "C" average) from Yale University in 1968, and then "served" as an F-102
"fighter pilot" in the Texas Air National Guard, except for when I might have been in Alabama. I received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1975. Following graduation, I moved back to Midland and began a "career" in the energy business. OK, well, that didn't go too well. After working on my daddy's successful 1988 Presidential campaign, I assembled the group of partners who purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989. On November 8, 1994, I was elected Governor of Texas. I became the first Governor in Texas history to be elected to consecutive 4-year terms when he was re-elected on November 3, 1998. I served for 6 years as the 46th Governor of the State of Texas, where I earned a reputation for bipartisanship and as a compassionate conservative who shaped public policy based on the principles of limited government, personal responsibility (now, that don't apply to ME, as I have never made a mistake that I can remember of), strong families, and local control. I also set a world record by frying 155 criminal-types - they call me "The Texecutioner"! Haw haw!

Well, long story short, with the help of my brother Jeb, and Dick Cheney and his friends, and the Supreme Court, I become the President. Yep - ME! Of all people! Wheee doggies, now if that don't beat all! I was sworn into office on January 20, 2001, and get this - I was re-elected on November 2, 2004, this time with people actually VOTING for me, and I was sworn in for a second term on January 20, 2005.

Since becoming President of the United States in 2001, I have worked with the Congress to create an ownership society and build a future of security, prosperity, and opportunity for all Americans. (Oh man. Where do I get this stuff? Someone writes it for me, I guess!) I signed into law tax relief that helps workers keep more of their hard-earned money - about $300 more, I can't believe what you can buy with chump change! - as well as the most comprehensive education reforms in a generation, the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. This legislation is ushering in a new era of accountability, flexibility, local control, and more choices for parents, affirming our Nation’s fundamental belief in the promise of every child.

I firmly believe that if you teach a child to read, he or her will be able to pass a literacy test. Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?

I have also worked to improve healthcare and modernize Medicare, providing the first-ever prescription drug benefit for seniors; too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country. Among my other hobbies is conserving our environment (hooohoooHOOOO, I am FUNNY); and increasing military strength, pay, and benefits. Because I believe the strength of America lies in the hearts and souls of our citizens, I have supported programs that encourage individuals to help their neighbors in need. Because I sure as hell ain't gonna do it!

This I believe: Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream.

Now lemme get serious for a moment.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, terrorists attacked our Nation. Since then, I haven't missed an opportunity to use this tragedy as an excuse for all sorts of shenanigans, from invading a country which had nothing to do with it, to spying on Americans, to legalizing torture.

I am married to Laura Welch Bush, a former teacher and librarian, and they have twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna, whose hobbies are drinking and, well, er, drinking. My family also includes two dogs, Barney and Miss Beazley, and a cat, Slick Willie.

amazing how many of us got started on the stones in 79, 80......that was the last generation of new stones fans.
November 1st, 2005 03:05 PM
JuanTCB Agreed, Textile. The late '60s/early '70s kids were the last ones exposed to the Stones when they were still the biggist badasses around. I mean, take a kid born in '75. Figure he starts watching MTV and listening to the radio around the age of 10-11. What's the first Stones thing he sees? Some dude with a mullet and a pink pastel suit dancing around with a cartoon cat.

Or, if he was a late bloomer, he sees that same guy running around with sumo wrestlers encouraging us to "work".

Of if he's a little younger than that? He tunes in sees the same guy practicing ballet in the dance studio of a girl's prep school singing about his emotions.

We were much better off being exposed to a bunch of people on drugs doing a really bad job a lip-synching.

nankerphelge I am a very youthful looking 42, an Aries and an interior decorator with a focus on the cutting edge "Hung Shui" style -- a fabulous combination of decorating that combines the traditional Chinese style of understanding the relationships between nature and ourselves so that we might live in harmony within our environment, combined with big phallic artwork throughout the environment! Here's what I have in my nature room:

My life partner's name is Adrian and he the owner of Le Salon in Dupont Circle. He is quite talented with his hands and has an extraordinary collection of butt plugs:

In my spare time I love gardening and cooking -- espcially tofu dishes. I have a tofu fruit salad that is to die for. I sleep in flannel pajamas and sometimes I cry.

Steamboat Bill, Jr. I'm 21, from the Chicago area originally, been living in Indianapolis for about 13 years now. I just dropped out of college because I was sick of school and didn't have a major. While my small, core-group of friends decided to go off to various colleges and work towards degrees, I've decided to become a full-time loser with no prospects. I've never had a girlfriend, this is probably owing to the fact that I am unattractive. I work as a janitor during the afternoon, and after dropping out of school got a job with UPS during the evening.

Aside from listening to the Stones and the Who, I also enjoy the music of George Gershwin, as well as various blues, rock, and American standards. I love movies, everything from Buster Keaton to Alfred Hitchcock to Bergman to Welles to musicals to old B-horror movies.

Despite dropping out of school, I don't want my mind to grow stale or stagnant, so I've taken up the reading of books on various subjects. At the moment, I immensed in author Ron Chernow's fascinating new biography of Alexander Hamilton.

Excellent book and very highly recommended- this was one of the last book's I read before discovering RO (need to get back into reading). Very insightful knowledge about the founding fathers and, in my opinion, the definitive biography of one of history's most misunderstood & remarkable figures. His contributions, especially when he was working with Washington, can never be understated. Washington and Hamilton (more or less co-presidents during Wahsington's first term)- what a remarkable partnership!!! George had the ability to get the most out of Hamilton's genius and keep him in check at the same time.

Hamilton's vision of the future is what the U.S. eventually became. Jefferson would have been horrified.

Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.

Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere man, please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere man, the world is at your command.

He's as blind as he can be,
Just sees what he wants to see,
Nowhere man can you see me at all?

Nowhere man, don't worry,
Take your time, don't hurry,
Leave it all 'till somebody else
Lends you a hand.

Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere man, please listen,

Making all his nowhere plans
For nobody. "
