corgi37 I was born in a crossfire hurricane.

I spent my early years in the bowels of a cruise ship, where my parents made a living carving images of famous stars out of potato peelings. After the Poseidon Adventure, I worked the docks, picking rats off the tow lines, till i was discovered by a wealthy black family. They took me in and taught me how to read braille. Though i wasnt blind, it certainly made my fingertips sensitive, which was important as a croupier in Australia's 1st casino. From there, i drifted to the streets. Selling heroin and dodging crooked cops. Mel Gibson nearly ran over me while filming Mad Max, and feeling much guilt, he took me under his wing, and i became his adviser on all things Catholic.

I have 2 penises. 1 for day - and one for night (that glows). I bash my wife every day. I drink urine from a cup marked "Worlds greatest dad" and send money to deserving organisations like Al Queda, Qantas, the female foot fetish society and tattoos anonymous.

I drive a crappy car and I drive my wife to drink. I smoke dope, eat Muslims, drink beer/wine/vinegar (all at the same time) and read porn in church.

Pretty much ya normal suburban W.A.S.P. i reckon.

pdog I'm 38 and I've been driving a cab in SF for 4 years. Been a Stones fan since I was three, family influenced. Became a hardcore fan by 12... Grew up in New Jersey. Discovered punk rock and hard drugs in the 80's. Been clean and sober for 9 years. Have a wife, son and another son on the way... I have a 13 year old daughter who lives with her mom in Texas.
My real job is raising my kids, that's when I got into working with the taxi industry. Before that I worked in, and hated, the 9 to 5 corporate life. I hope never to return.

monkey_man I'm 37, self employed and living in SF with my wife. I also do part time work for the local concert promoter. I grew up in NYC and moved out to SF 15 years ago. I, like P-Dog, have been a huge Stones fan since childhood, also family influenced. Ditto on the punk rocker and sober fronts. The first non 45 record I ever bought with my own money was Some Girls!

I should probably add that I was also family influenced with my level of fandom. My first public performance was at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Monticello, IN singing Shattered at age 5!

PeerQueer Great thread! Ok...here goes...

I am 35 and currently reside for most the year in the Seattle - B.C. area.

I lost both my parents to an auto accident and lived with my uncle and aunt for much of my teen years. He is a retired attorney from Florida who now lives in the Pebble Beach/Carmel area.

As a kid I knew my family was financially comfortable, but when my uncle sat me down and explained my worth, from the estate, to the life insurance, etc. I was shocked at how much money we actually had. I left for college and became the crazy party kid who had more hangers on than I could ever count - not friends mind you, but blood suckers. I paid for all the dope, booze, hotel rooms, etc. I was kicked out of college in Wash. State,(my aunt had family there and attended the UW) bought a home and boat near Roche Harbor on San Juan Island and chilled out for nearly 2 years. Even worked as a dock hand one summer where I met a girl who became to this day the only total real love of my life. I was totally in awe of her. We dated on and off for several years, setting up shop in B.C. and San Fran. where we met some friends one summer on the island. Long story short, she died just a few days shy of my 23rd birthday. My then recreational drug habits turned quite a bit more...robust, as I then moved to San Fran. nearly full time to escape the pain. I got swallowed up in the nightlife scene, took on many lovers of both sexes who were both attracted to my looks and my pocket book, and even spent a little R&R in jail for assaulting a redneck prick who sucker punched a much smaller and weaker friend of mine outside a gay club. (I'm a spoiled rich kid I guess - but I ain't no punk. I can throw down with the best of them and have on many an occassion, as my arrest record during these years would attest to.)

After that I left for Europe, travelled for several months, settling down with extended family in Ireland for a spell. There I met another love of my life - not sexual- but a great friend. We explored the darker side of Dublin and Belfast. July 15 of that year in Belfast was perhaps, along with the death of my parents, the darkest most horrific day of my life - and I will not go into the details here. Needless to say, I spent the next 5 or so months engaged in a world that none of you would not believe existed.

Upon returning from Europe, I spent time in New York and then San Diego, Carmel, before returning to my home in the San Juans. Needing to clear my head a bit, I sold my home there, purchased 5 acres of waterfront in Garrison Bay, and proceeded to build my own home (with ample help from a great contractor.) For the next two years I involved myself in every aspect of that project. I also purchased several multi-family properties in Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, and San Fran. at this time, as my once-considerable financials had been depleted due to my decade or so of debauchery. My uncle set me up with a great financial planner who has made me more money than I ever deserved.

After completing my home, I took my boat up to Alaska, then back down the coast to San Diego. I did this competely alone, though met both old friends as well as made many new ones during the 4 and a half month journey.

In the last few years I have lost my aunt to cancer, my dear Irish friend to AIDS, and one of my apartment buildings in Seattle to fire in which two tenants perished as well...

I have a few close friends, many many other friendly aquaintences, and now spend the majority of my days in Vancouver, the San Juans, Seattle, San Fran, and Carmel. I am seriously making a permanent move to Carmel as the place has really grown on me, and in recent years I have developed a passion for golf.

I have a young woman who I adore, though we live a lifestyle most would likely deem odd, or immoral, or any other such tag - but for us it is working out well. Both of us are seriously considering entering rehab,(well, more her than me) though I'm not sure I am yet ready to take that leap just yet, despite becoming a work out addict since turning 30.(I even stopped for a couple months after my 30th!) Drugs have been a near-daily part of my existence for nearly two decades, and well...

I have seen a total of 11 Stones shows since Steel Wheels, the most recent was Key Arena (great fucking show by the way - maybe the best yet.) I plan to catch a couple shows in Europe when I go to visit Ireland again this coming year.

Many think I live a charmed life. They see the homes, the boat, the cars, the clothes (I do love to shop)hear of all the places I have been or am going, but fail to see all the pain and darkness that accompanies those many blessings, or the cost of how that material wealth came to me in the first place.

So there it is...just your average Stones fan!

pavlovs dog The irony of this thread is tremendous! An irony which P-Dog and Starbuck could really appreciate right now.

For everyone else:

I like to say that just like the Rolling Stones I was Established in 1962 and am a Sagittarius like Keith. I’m married with 2 kids, ages 6 and 4 and live in Rochester, NY. I am a native of Chicago but went to High School in a small town in Wisconsin before attending the University Of Wisconsin, where I graduated with a B.A. in History in 1986. My 1st job out of college was driving a cab. I really embraced the lifestyle of being up all night and having lots of chance encounters with strangers. The pimps, the hookers, drug dealers, alcoholics all nearly killed me but I moved to NYC to drive there and live out my Travis Bickle obsession. After going bankrupt supporting my psycho jewish girlfriend I returned to the Midwest where I cleaned up my act and met my current wife. We moved here to her hometown in Upstate NY and I have become a respectable family man. I have gotten really fat and am lonely and bored. I am a sucker and a fool who is easily taken for a ride. I am in the midst of recovering from a personal crisis which I won’t repeat.

The Stones are my life. I have created meaning from their music and their lives and listen to them several hours a day. I will be going to see them for the 2nd time on this tour at MSG on January 20th. I hope to meet St. Sway and Egon if they are there.

FPM C10 Nancy Kulp?

Nancy was from my home town, and my mom was one of her best friends throughout her life. And I was her cabana boy!

Hahaha! Not really. I watched her house and fed her animals when she was off appearing in dinner theater or running for congress. She was a hardcore liberal democrat. Her prized possession was a photo of her with Bobby Kennedy.

She was a great person, really cool. I'm proud that I knew her.

Of all the shows on television, the Beverly Hillbillies made me laugh the most. Still does. I'm not so much a Nancy Kulp fan as a Jane Hathaway fan. But if it were any other actress doing that part, it wouldn't/couldn't have been pulled off.

Brainbell Jangler I'm 51. I've been a lawyer for 15 years. I graduated from Harvard Law School, which is a neat trick for a guy whose parents were teenage high school dropouts and who lived in a tiny house with no indoor toilet until age 8. I'm not complaining, mind you; while I haven't had the financial advantages of Peer Queer, I also haven't suffered any of the devastating losses. In fact, I'd say my life has been blessed.

I have two beautiful daughters aged 8 and 7. I've been separated from my wife of nine years for two years. I live across the street from my family and see them daily. We're all going to the Portland show tomorrow. Reconciliation is on the table.

My mom introduced me to the Stones on Ed Sullivan in 1964. I've been a hardcore fan since 1968. I completed my album collection in 1972. I saw my first show at Foxboro in 1989 and eight shows since: third, fifth and seventh rows once each. Until I discovered these message boards, I was the most serious Stones fan I knew.

Acid changed my life for the better. I used to be a heavy pot/hash smoker (and grower/dealer--the Statute of Limitations has run long ago) but I don't have time for it anymore (except special occassions. I never drank much except in law school. I enjoy a little toot but ONLY at Stones shows for the last 10 years.

" For many, day was all Paul "

" Paul McCartney performs before about 18,000 adoring fans at the Legendary , state - of - the - art Qwest Center Omaha on Sunday night. The 63-year-old former Beatle was energetic, chatty and relaxed, even two dozen songs into the set.

During his nearly three-hour performance Sunday night at the Qwest Center Omaha, the rock icon rescued the audience from radio's one-hit wonders with a 36-song set list of Beatles, Wings and solo material from five decades.

And he also rescued a pair of fluorescent green glow sticks after a security guard seized them from a fan.

After performing the Beatles classic "Eleanor Rigby," McCartney momentarily stopped the show to scold the concert worker for confiscating the glow sticks from a woman near center stage.

Several boos were heard before the security man appeared on a video screen returning them to the fan, who by then was glowing as much as the sticks.

She and some 16,000 other McCartney fans had plenty of other reasons to beam at his sold-out show.

The concert marked the first time McCartney performed in Omaha. He never came here with the Beatles or Wings.

The show was an event. Many fans made it a daylong celebration.

Hours before the arena's doors opened, fans mingled about, taking pictures of tour buses behind the building and the video marquee on the corner of 10th Street and Capitol Avenue that displayed McCartney's picture.

A few hours before the show, Sally Sheehan and Amber Volquartsen stood outside the building with their ears pressed to a thick glass door.

With cameras dangling from their necks, the mother and daughter from Stanton, Iowa, were doing their best to make out the muffled music coming from inside as McCartney and his band ran through sound checks before the show.

"I'm melting," said the 31-year-old Volquartsen, who was wearing devil's horns and a bright red wig in hopes that it would be easier for McCartney to spot her in the crowd.

Margaret Wilson and her friend Kay Brittain drove three hours from Ray, Mo., to attend the show.

"She's had butterflies all day," Wilson said of her friend.

Brittain, who had an oversized "I Love Paul" button pinned to her shirt, said she's been a McCartney fan since 1964.

"I was 14 and he had those beautiful eyes," said Brittain, who was attending her third McCartney concert.

First-time McCartney concertgoer Mike Deleo of Omaha, who was clad in a white "Fab 4" jersey, was peering through binoculars at tour buses parked behind the arena.

"I love Paul," said Deleo, 41, said. "I love his music."

All the excitement outside didn't come close to the anticipation inside the arena in the moments leading up to the show.

Opening act DJ Freelance Hellraiser tried his best to warm up the crowd by mixing an assortment of McCartney songs with various dance beats. The predominately baby boomer crowd didn't seem to get it and looked puzzled throughout much of the DJ's 15-minute set.

But they erupted with cheers and sprung from their seats when McCartney and his four-piece band walked on stage following a short film showing the star through the ages.

__________

I've been all over Orcas! Have had a few great times lounging about Rosario Resort. Best mussels in the world there - bar none. Fact is I have met more people from around the world in the San Juans than anywhere else. I'm a boating nut and one meets the most amazing people on the water. It really is an international destination. I really do love this part of the world, and will always maintain a residence there - but the Carmel area is really calling me these days.

Small world indeed...

FotiniD Lots of interesting stories here! We're one diverse bunch of people for sure.

I'm turning 25 at the end of this month (Sagittarius), my name is Fotini and it is a girl's name - cause some still mistake me for a guy

I work as a secretary in a translation center, I write music and book articles on an e-zine and I'm trying to get my own stupid book published.

I have two dogs and three cats, my friends could make up an entire psychiatric clinic ward (including me of course ) and I like talking a lot!

And I'm a late starter in Stones, got hooked in 1998.
