Nellcote Pdog, applying your strategy to this World Series, Sox should lose three straight in Colorado. Instead, the Dice K goes 1-3, with a single, drives in the winning run against, what has become to this point, a very poor representative of the NL. The reality of the situation is the DH has been an accepted part of baseball for over 30 years, most pitchers absolutely tank at hitting. Good pitching should domintate good hitting everytime, I never understand the foes of the DH who get their bvd's in a bunch over this. If you have good pitching, you can get any hitter out. Besides, there is no real league anymore, hell, there is not even a president of either league.

gimmekeef Next years champ will need to spend at least $300 million to win it all.....Series are won with pitching.Sox have tons of it and paid like hell for it therefore they win...Rockies were a nice story for a few weeks but arent in same class....Only thing we know for sure about next year is..KC/Wash/Pitt/Cinci/Balt/TB have absolutely no chance...period..oh ya can nmake that next 5 years while we're at it....forget the DH get a salary cap....

if you go in the field to play, you take your tutn at bat, that is baseball...

having two players, sit n the bench instead of batting and especially playing a position in the field in order to bat, is so lame...

Starbuck could we maybe...just once....have a good world series? is it too much to ask, really? 2002 was somewhat dramatic with a game 7 and all...but only once this century (2001) was the series worth writing home about.

i mean, sure, they can't all be 1991, but what the hell?

Nellcote Red Sox title means free furniture for some
October 29, 2007

BOSTON --Thousands of Boston Red Sox fans are waiting to cash in on the teams' second World Series victory in four years.

That's because back in March they took advantage of a local furniture store's promotional offer for full rebates if the Red Sox win the World Series.

Jordan's Furniture promised free sofas, chairs and beds to customers who bought between March 7 and April 16th, if the Red Sox win the title.

The Red Sox beat Colorado 4-3 to finish their second World Series sweep in four seasons.

As Boston held a 3-0 Series lead over Colorado, callers to Jordan's were being directed to its Web site for information on applying for rebates.

Jordan's took about 30,000 orders during the promotion.

Chief executive Eliot Tatelman hasn't disclosed how much the rebates would be, but he won't have to pay it all. He bought an insurance policy to cover losses if the team wins.

****************

Eliot is a huge Stones fan, I sat in front of him @ Licks/Gillette. He & his brother Barry's furniture commercials are legendary
