He is coming to conquer us Aussies. I am looking forward to hopefully having a beer or 70 with him.
Of course, he comes to town at the busiest time of the year for me, but what can you do. He is foreign after all.
Why dont some of you others follow his fine example and come down here for a trip?

Traveling in a fried-out combie
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said,
"Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."
Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscles
I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich
And he said,
"I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."
Lying in a den in Bombay
With a slack jaw, and not much to say
I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me
Because I come from the land of plenty?"
And he said,
"Oh! Do you come from a land down under? (oh yeah yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."

Well, i met the guy today. We shared many beers. What a top bloke! Nice as pie. Egon is off to NYC in Jan. I envy him. All who meet him will like him like a brother. Or, maybe, 2nd cousin.
Here's some pics.

Cheers Egon! Boy, did we drink!! I had to keep on going after you left. I fell asleep on the couch around 9.30. My kids jumping all over me to wake me up. then, i resumed boozing to about 4am. I hit the red wine around midnight.
It was also the hottest night in Melbourne for something like 25 years. Good excuse to keep on drinking.
Dave Gilmour? Hmm, i'll take that. |
