T&A they were great live last year - and they just announced they will be issuing a 2cd/dvd from the tour. I'm thrilled. band was excellent - featuring Keltner on drums. Also - they brought the fabulous Everly Bros for 4 songs mid-set. A dream show. Can't imagine why any good Stones fan wouldn't dig these 60's icons.

gypsy I can't begin to tell you how many times joey and I have been in the middle of making sweet love, and suddenly I hear: "Hello darkness my old friend..."
If joey's in a frisky mood, he'll even don a Garfunkel wig...it gets me moist.

Please continue to pray for SS and his family.
I pray that the sick bastard who perpetrated these heinous crimes against SS and family will not pull a "Max Cady."
Thank you and Goodnight.

thejuf I think The Graduate is one of the best soundtracks ever made....
btw, I think this is one of the best films ever made...

so I can say I like s&g a lot.

unfortunately I didn't attend their concert, but did JIm Keltner play at every gig, including the concert in Amsterdam last July?

they made some very good albums and Paul Simon is a terrific songwriter (or rather 'was' - I dont care for much of what he's done in the last 15 years..)

I think saying they "rock my socks" and "kick major ass" (not phrases that would readily spring to mind when you think of S&G) and that theyre as good as the Stones is pushing it, though!

Gazza I take it then that Art's recent reported lack of enthusiasm for God's Chosen Band doesnt seem to have earned your wrath like it usually does when 'lesser' artists bitch disrespectfully about them?

Art is a piece of dung...I can't stand him ...and yes, his Stones put down(Fleetwood Mac is better) only further deepened my hatred towards him..NOnetheless, together as a duo, they certainly rank up there...

" Feeling Steelie , 1966 "
( Simon / Gayfunkel / Santos )

" Slow down, you move too fast.
You got to make the mornin' last.
Just kickin' down the cobblestones,
Lookin' for fun and feelin' Steelie.
Ba da da da da da da, feelin' Steelie.

Hello, lamppost, whatcha knowin'?
I come to watch your flowers growin'.
Ain'tcha got no rhymes for me?
Doo it doo doo, feelin' Steelie.
Ba da da da da da da, feelin' Steelie .

I got no deeds to do, no promises to keep.
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep
Let the morningtime drop all it's petals on me
Life, I love you, all is Steelie!
Ba da da da da da da ba bap a dee... Steelie "

UGot2Rollme saw them 2nd to last show of thier recent and final tour in Basel - they were very good. Looking forward to the DVD/CD release.

Also, Art's pot bust last year was the inspiration behind my rework of their song (previously posted):

The Sound of Sirens (to the tune Sound of Silence)

Hello ganja my old friend,
Ive come to light you up again,
Were in the back of a limo now,
Gonna catch a big bang buzz and how,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of sirens.

And without Paul I smoke alone
My harmonies are better when Im stoned,
neath the halo of a limo light,
I rolled my joint up so it was nice and tight
And then my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
A neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of sirens

And the police man he saw,
Art so stoned he couldnt crawl.
Art was talking without speaking,
Art was hearing without listening,
He was writing songs that his voice would never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of sirens.

Paul said Art I told you so -
Dont get stoned in no limo.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms so I can carry you.
But Pauls words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of sirens

And the people grinned and prayed
To the neon bong they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said the words of Bob Marley
Are written on the jailhouse walls
Lets bust Arts balls.
And whisperd in the sounds of silence.

Joey " Me and Steelie down by the schoolyard "
( Simon / Gayfunkel / Santos )

" The mama pajama rolled out of bed
And she ran to the police station
When the papa found out he began to shout
And he started the investigation
It's against the law
It was against the law
What the mama saw
It was against the law

The mama looked down and spit on the ground
Everytime my name gets mentioned
The papa said oy if I get that boy
I'm gonna stick him in the house of detention
Well I'm on my way
I don't know where I'm going
I'm on my way I'm taking my time
But I done know where
Goodbye to Rosie the queen of Corona
See you, me and Steelie
Down by the schoolyard
See you, me and Steelie
Down by the schoolyard
Me and Steelie down by the schoolyard

In a couple of days they come and
Take me away
But the press let the story leak
And when the radical priest
Come to get me released
We was all on the cover of Newsweek
And I'm on my way
I don't know where I'm going
I'm on my way I'm taking my time
But I don't know where
Goodbye to Rosie the queen of Corona
See you, me and Steelie
Down by the schoolyard
See you, me and Steelie
Down by the schoolyard
See you, me and Steelie
Down by the schoolyard ..............."

Soldatti I was listening the Greatest Hits album today, some good songs on it (and some songs very boring...)
