it's on "Passengers Vol. 1"
(technically not a U2 album but a project featuring U2 and Brian Eno where they composed a series of soundtrack-style songs)
The rest of the album is pretty weak, but "Miss Sarajevo" is as good as anything they've ever recorded and one of the most beautiful songs of the last few years by anyone.
Pavarotti's vocal on it is beyond majestic. |

you havent heard the original, though - with Pavarotti?
You can also get it on the "Best of 1990-2000" compilation, which is a much easier listen than "Passengers".
just have to echo what Poplar says above - the bit where Pavarotti comes in is one of the greatest moments on any record ever. And you dont have to understand any Italian to be moved by how heartbreakingly gorgeous - and chilling - it is. Makes the hair on my neck rise every time.
and the video is something else too. Holy Christ.

Passengers is a good post-smoke, sitting in a hot bath listen...
but no - not exactly a party album.
i'm seeing U2 again in December (I saw them early in the tour back in San Jose). I'm looking forward to seeing another show, cause I tought the SJ crowd was lame. But before U2, there are 2 more Stones shows to go!!!
SF, and Fresno, baby ... Stones coming to Cali!!!!

There are several versions available, but I think the
one you want is by Passengers & Luciano Pavarotti
found on the album "The Complete U2". |
