Highway Child There are some great chance that The Nearness Of You will be on the next album.
A good friend of mine went for 2 weeks in the studio with The Stones in Suresnes (he was invited by Keith), and he told me that they played the Nearness Of You, my best Keith song ever with Appartment #9.
Wait and see!!! next time, Four Flicks (I can't wait !!!!!!)

Jumping Jack The Stones doing ballads and love songs is as embarassing as Pat Boone doing rockers.

It is worse than singing with JT.

If you can't rock me, retire. Please do not become pathetic.
10-21-03 09:22 AM
SHINE A LIGHT yes,yes,yes...nearness of you must be on the next album. keith sang it for patti at their wedding, so i'm sure he'll do it for all of us!!!
10-21-03 12:16 PM
Shockspeeder I'd like to hear Nearness of You 'cause I heard it in Toronto. Also We Had It All would be nice too!
10-21-03 01:30 PM
sirfito Yes, they will do the song in their new album. Why not? I like it.
Cheers,
Fito

jb Well, because it sucks, like all of Keith's ballads...boring and self-serving crap.
10-21-03 05:55 PM
steel driving hammer When it's all said and done;

The Stones should of shared the stage with Taylor, not Timberlake.
10-21-03 06:17 PM

Yeah, things like Ruby Tuesday and Beast of Burden are pretty embarassing, aren't they?

I'm gonna go listen to Winter now.

I hear ya my brother!

The momentum only slows down if you don't feel the magic hanging in the air.

Winter GREAT tune which I haven't heard in a while.

It's always nice to dust off those bastards and give a listen ain't it!

ALL the Stones ballads are heavy.
10-22-03 09:09 AM
Jumping Jack Beast of Burden is not one of my favorites either. Thank god Keith doesn't croon on RT.

JB has it right.
10-22-03 09:23 AM
steel driving hammer One of my favorite parts on Beast Of Burden is the 81-82 live version how Mick and Keith sung "I'm not to blind to seeeeeeeeeee differently.

The same on Just My Imagination...

Keith - Running away with MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Mick - Running away with MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAE!

Those little things make me smile Ronnie!
10-22-03 10:03 AM
Joey " Beast of Burden is not one of my favorites either. Thank god Keith doesn't croon on RT.

Actually , Beast of Burden sounds even better acoustic .................................Better than Sweet Virginia IMHO !!!!

The Jacky !

Shockspeeder The 'new albium' people here think will be coming out real soon. If anything it will just be another greatest hits CD with the extended Miss You added in, digitally remastered of course!
10-22-03 02:36 PM
Child of the Moon Steelie, you've hit the nail on the head!

I also like some '81 versions where Keith adds a bit of a "kick" to the chorus:
Mick: Running awaaaay............with me!
Keith:................WAAAY-AAAY with MEEEEEEEEEE!

Although, when I think about it, '78 might have the advantage, mainly because of Mick's amended middle: "But in reality/She DOESN'T FUCKING KNOW ME!"

Joey-skee, you may be right. Beast of Burden acoustic is one of those near-buried treasures in the history of the Stones that I'm gld people like you and me have discovered. Speaking of '78 again, I've always enjoyed how Keith sort of screamed and croaked that whole song behind Mick's vocal. Never really *sang*, per se, just screamed and croaked.
10-22-03 03:54 PM
T&A Mick also sometimes used the "fucking know me" during the 81 tour...

Which just goes to show that I need more '81 bootlegs!
