Ok, aussie fans, tomorrow was supposed to be the day Paul Dainty announces the Stones Aussie tour. I wonder if it will happen. In the past 2 weeks we have had McCartney announcing the "Beatles concert you've never seen" show. The state Government here in Melbourne is actually paying that lover of 1 legged ex-models to come here! Can you believe my taxes are subsidising the richest nerd in pop!?!??! Not rock, cause he has never rocked. And, to make matters worse, KISS are doing a one off show with the MElbourne Sypmphony Orchestra. So, those 2 have all the attention, not to mention, alot of the available disposable $400 most people have. I hope the tour is announced tomorrow, but i think the timing might be wrong. Kiss is getting heaps of press, and their show is supposed to be 4-5 days after the Stones pencilled in shows. us poor aussie's have had bugger all major acts tour here for ages, now we got too many. I dont want anyone stealing my bands thunder, let alone making it unviable for the Stones to tour. Also, Rove.com.au still has just a teaser of an announcement. What the hell is THAT all about? |

corgi, i thought the announcement was to be the 29th ...have you thought of ringing dainty's operation and asking them when the dates are going to be annonced... i contacted them about a month or so ago when everything was still "unconfirmed" (which it remains so far)
btw, and no offence, but speaking as an australian, i find that whole "aussie aussie oi oi oi" thing contrived and embarrassing |

I agree on both.
here's the link to Dainty's site. Pretty skimpy though.

You can also track 40 licks' chart success or lack of here

What your guess on ticket prices? Just double the US?

Hahaha!.....Embarrasing if you're Australian yes! Contrived?....Mmmm, maybe! It's certainly had it's day! And lyricaly, my 1 year old son could come up with something more in depth than Oi,oi,oi! Cultural cringe eh? McCartney's OK! But the pre-concert hype" The Beatles concert you never saw????????????" Typical Aussie media overstatement. Don't worry guys! Once The Stones are confirmed it will be like '94/95, the media will fall over themselves to sell it to concert goers, and The Stones are in a totaly different league to an aging, out of touch McCartney, or those comic book, token hell-raisers who should've ditched the halloween chiche 20 years ago. The Stones will be the ones stealing all the thunder unless Dainty fails to sell it properly. |
