this time last year in Houston, Ronnie showed up at Mac's club show after the Stones gig. He walked right thru the crowd in the bar and hopped onstage!!!

you might want to check if Mac has any club gigs scheduled after the show...

texile can't fucking wait - i've never been to this venue but i've heard good things...sound-wise.
and my hopes were realized -los lonely boys will be opening in austin.
i've seen johnny too many fucking times!
18th October 2006 12:59 PM
texile johnny LANG that is....
anybody know the order of the lineup?
18th October 2006 05:16 PM
Bloozehound I'm not to excited about Los Lonely Boys, I was hoping for ZZ Top, so whatever, but I won't stand for SOL. If they play SOL I will throw down my brewdawg and walkout...
18th October 2006 05:32 PM
Nellcote Austin is the pick of the litter.
Blooze, leave for CC right after the B stage, or you will not gain entrance to CC....Make certain you tell MAC all of us @ Rocks Off give him our best!!!

luxury1 Los Lonely Boys blew my fucking socks off in Memphis last December--oh wait, I wasnt wearing socks. Anyway, virtuoso musicians with a bit of showmanship thrown in. I thought they were a superb opener for the Stones.

saw Lang open for the Stones when they played the Beacon.

Surprisingly the Stones brought him out for a number. I was shocked.

anyways.. Mick made a really funny comment afterwards as Lang left the stage. He said something like "Thank You Johnny Lang! How about him? He's allright, right? Ahhh, yes... no.. maybe.." then Mick turned and did that so-so wave with his hand to the audience and made a face

i saw them at a free gig in my small town -
an outdoor promotional performance...
and they kicked ass - don't be fooled by thier one commercial hit..
they're actually very funky and bluesy and hard.
yes, lux - i thought the same thing when i saw them here,
a VERY good opener for the stones.
i do with you bloozehound about sol -
i will SIT!
that's funny about jagger's reaction to lang -
the kids okay but for the last few concerts, me and my sotnes buddy have been trying to AVOID the opening acts -
remember bryan adams? - okay, that was a long time ago but i'm actually extied about the lonely boys...
18th October 2006 08:42 PM
Bloozehound my wife digs the Lonely boys too, no they aint that bad, I was just really hoping for the 'Toppage...but as the song says, "u can't always get what you want"

but I'm not kidding about SOL, if they play it, I'll walk, gone, disapeared, here today there tomorrow, vanished, chinga where'd he go? hidden salami, vamos aqui

Yep, he walked right through the crowd up to my neice and I[from behind] at the front of the stage. We were tapped on the shoulder and got quite a surprise to say the least. My niece is still wide eyed.
I would expect Bernard to show up again with Mac and most likley Ronnie. Hubert Sumlin is doing a midnight gig at Antones blues club and of course some expect Keith to show. I haven't decided which gig to take in.

Check what the weather dudes are saying now. Fuckers led me astray the past few days.
I'm actually looking forward to my first GA Stones gig. If it's in the rain that'll be another first which will make what most likely is my last time seeing the boys live quite unique. Also, since they're still insisting on playing that insipid SOL, I can stray from my standard 2 hour pre-show dehydration mode I've developed over the past 28 years, keep on drinking and make use of the built in piss break.
On the night of firsts for me, I hope we get Far Away Eyes instead of the obligatory Dead Flowers.

Bloozehound I'm sorta debating the Antones theory as well, I read about it on shidoobie. CC is a pretty much a given, what are the odds Keith (or some other stones) will actually show...

i will say the last Antones blues fest I went too, I came face to face with Dennis Hopper

it is Sumlin and Antones seems to attract the big dogs

Bloozehound was downtown today scouting zilker out, they got the area where the concerts going to be all blocked off, fences, trucks and security everywhere. All entrances have signs up saying something about the park being shut down between certain dates due to the upcoming Rolling Stones concert(I'm gonna try to steal one of these signs)

Looks like they got most of the scaffolding up for the stage too -- this shits gonna kick ass, can't wait!
