Sonic Cinema: Episode 3

2002

30 MINS, Color

This installment of Sundance Channel's original magazine-format program looks at the creative interaction of contemporary cinema and music with two stylish videos and a profile of a former rock star who has found a second career as a successful film composer. Director Lance Bangs's music video for The Shins recreates iconic album covers of the past, while filmmaker Douglas Avery conjures the spirit of old-style rock star excess in his video for the British band Cornershop. Later, "Sonic Cinema" visits with Stewart Copeland, the former drummer for the British band The Police, who during the past two decades has scored more than 40 films for filmmakers ranging from Francis Ford Coppola and Ken Loach to Oliver Stone and John Waters.
