Every picture tells a story, and this is a cool one
The following is a portion of the story behind this picture, from the Beggars Banquet photo sessions by Michael Joseph, wrote by him and taken from the book 40x20
I had just survived a few months in Vietnam covering the war for town (England's answer to Esquire) and had shot numerous White Horse Whiskey ads. The latter taught me the trick of handling animals by using megaphone to create unusual sounds. This helped me coordinate a hungry goat, a dopey sheep, two dogs (one stuffed) and a cat, in addition to the semi-stoned STONES at eleven a.m. in a Victorian Painters Studio in Hampstead, London.
The location was a medieval jousting pavilion, which was a great backdrop with the help of many smoke bombs. Afterward, the STONES changed into cricket gear for the image below, with a two-legged piano as an added prop.
More on the book!!
