According to new research the average person spends around £21,000 on music during their lifetime.

The figure includes spending on gig-going, equipment as well as CDs and records. The research also found that hardcore music fans are likely to spend even more with over £44,000 being outlayed.

The BBC reports that the study, carried out by TNS, involved 1,188 people who were quizzed on the subject.

Apparently they found the average person owns approximately £891 worth of equipment to play music on and spends £425 each year on CDs, gigs and magazines.

Egbert Thanks TTM - you are resourcefulness personified. I'd say I'm above average when it comes to purchasing music paraphernalia and below average when it comes to having a life.
