They mentioned this was the first time they had ever opened for the STONES.

someone needs to remind Jeff Tweedy that they opened for the Stones on a bunch of dates during the 2nd leg of the Voodoo Lounge Tour.

I love Wilco's 1st 3 albums. Tweedy is a great singer songwriter.

if you are fan of the Stones countryhonk stuff and Neil Young's Harvest or Flying Burrito Bros then pick up Wilco's "AM" and "Being There" albums

I was very quickly trying to locate my seat (they had just finished up what I believe was their first song). That's what I thought he said but I guess it's always possible that I may have misunderstood as he said it at the TIME I was in the aisle carrying on a conversation with an acquaintance.

Agree with you about Being There. Great album and do love their country rock songs. In their set they played a few of those type songs. Personally, while I love Being There, I really like the new direction they've gotten into
with their last two albums, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost Is Born.

I've seen Wilco a few times and it was fun seeing them open for the STONES. Here's the Wilco setlist:

2005-10-15 Wilco Phillips Arena Atlanta, GA
1. Kingpin
2. Handshake Drugs
3. I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
4. A Shot In The Arm
5. At Least That's What You Said
6. Jesus, Etc.
7. Hummingbird
8. I'm The Man Who Loves You
9. I'm A Wheel
10. The Late Greats

The STONES performance was great. Highlights for me were great versions of Live With Me (this came as a surprise), Wild Horses (normally live this song drags a little but thought they nailed it this TIME), PAINT IT BLACK was awesome, Satisfaction (one of the best versions I've seen), Bitch, Rough Justice and all of the B stage songs (not only did I have a super location for the B stage but loved how they performed Get Off My Cloud & ONNYA) . Lowlights for me was a by the numbers (mailed in) version of Sympathy, Keith's set was only OK (a little boring), and Rain Fall Down (it was alright but I would have been much happier with BOMH or the tour debut of She Saw Me Coming).

glencar I was late for Wilco so that was a HUGE disappointment. I was only able to hear the last song & a half.

I actually disagree with most of the above highlights/lowlights except for the fact that I too thought Wild Horses was great. RFD was a bit muddled at first but then it clicked. Actually, that's the onlyt thing I disagree with I think but why edit?

glencar Oh yeah, I though RJ was the worst I've seen it done. Not sure why but it seemed a bit of a drag.

they should of skipped IATTBYH - too long and mellow for a short opening set.

I know they've been playing mostly songs from GIB & IATTBYH, but I'm surprised they didnt bust out some more Stonesy stuff for the crowd. Monday, I Got You, Casino Queen, Dreamer In My Dreams and I Must Be High would of fit in nice.

but what would of been really cool is if Mick brought Jeff Tweedy out for a song - maybe Wild Horses or Bitch. I'm a big Tweedy fan. Going to see him solo next month. Should be cool.

Jumping Jack Getting drunk at J&J and watching the USC football game was far more interesting than what I saw of Wilco. Zzzzzzz ...
