Hi, gang. First of all, I want to thank all of you for the great photos, posts, torrents on this great site! I'm trying to download a torrent, and I've told it "0" for the number of seeds (to try and do my part to share!), provided my ISP address in the block, tried using a port I'm supposed to use, given permission to the firewall and all that info that is provided in the BitTorrent help, but I"m STILL getting very slow downloand and upload speeds. Is it just a fact of my life that you can't attain reasonable speeds on dialup? I can't see where I'm doing anything wrong, other than being on dialup... Thanks for any advice (short of ditch the dialup, cause I can't afford that right now) any of you might have. And, once again, thanks for all the great posts and great pics... I appreciate it very, very much!

Welcome Bevy!....hardly an expert on the torrents but I dont think dialup is a viable option.Even with high speed it takes quite a while...Good luck.. |

SirStonesALot and GimmeeeKeef! Hi! I never thought that you'd be on dial-up as you both post post soooo much and have so much to contribute! So, it's okay if it says it's going to take 2 days, as long as I'm seeding, right? LOL.. Hey, it's worth it to get the stuff, I just wanted to make sure I was doing everything right so that I'm not messing up anyone whose trying to upload from me (if that makes sense). ... I'm DYING to get a copy of the Hershey concert... (I'm Whining and Pleading to Marko again, but I haven't received a reply.. sniff.. sniff...) Hershey was my first Stones Concert, that's why I'm interested in that one in particular, but I'm just thrilled to be getting what I am! ABSOLUTELY THRILLED!!! So, patience is a virtue, and I must be patient... Okay... Well, thank you very, very much for the replies!!!

Stay tuned to this station for the Hershey show.
You will get a copy, I promise. |

Really the only way to guarantee getting a recording of a show you went to is to tape it yourself but everything seems to be turning up fairly quickly this time around. |

Agreed Dan.
But I happen to have been at this particular show with the guy who taped it. I've already heard it. We are planning on running a tree here for the Hershey show.
I can safely promise you that whomever wishes to have a copy of the Hershey show, will be able to get it.
Eventually.
Good things come to those who wait. |

Well, as I had written, this was my first Stones concert... I had no clue what the security was going to be like, and (don't laugh) was too afraid to even try to sneak my camera in, let alone anything more... But if I knew then what I know now... Jeesh... I could kick myself, as part of me said "What's the worse they can do? Take your camera/whatever away?" For some reason I was afraid they might take my ticket or something and I'd miss my chance to see them... (okay, I hope no one hurt themselves when they fell off of their chairs laughing .. I admit it! I"M A NEWBIE!!! LOL)..
Heck, I'm laughing at myself!!! LOL Why not!? It is pretty funny when I realize how naive I am about so many things!!! LOl
But, thanks for the all the advice, replies and encouragement...
I should have mentioned this earlier... I have 2 tickets for MSG that I'm not going to be able to use... First of all, I made a HUGE mistake buying them... (Damn Dialup).. I thought I was getting 4, but I was only getting 2... Let's just say the price is just shy of $1,000... If anyone has that kind of money, I will sell them at my cost... Otherwise, I guess I'm going to be listing them on E-bay after Thanksgiving... I really can't afford these. 1/18/06 SIDE STAGE (somewhat limited view) section 120, Row f seats 13 and 14. I guess you haven't read the fine print in the Patriot Act. If you are caught making unauthorized recordings or photographs at a public event, you are detained as an enemy combatant and shipped off to Guantanamo Bay. But this is the Stones dammit, well worth the risk! |

I know, I know, I know.... beat me with your words and curse me to be forever be doomed to slow-speed dialup... Good Lord, they wouldn't let us bring sealed water bottles in... How did I know I'd be able to sneak in cameras? LOL ... But, seriously, I was so afraid of doing something stupid... and then I was afraid the tickets I had bought over E-Bay weren't authentic and we would be turned away at the gate.. lol... and.. and... I wanted to see them sooooo bad... I just couldn't risk it... LOL... So, I am forever at the mercy of my fellow Stones fans... and forever indebted and grateful.... But, in my defense - I can scream, sing, dance and I had one hell of a time!!!!

I am on dialup on a second hand computer with a broken sound card. It kinda sucks but I am on total audio burnout, and its been nice revisiting old recordings lately that would otherwise be banished to deepest darkest corners, going forever unheard. |

Well, Dan, you can count on me to keep seeding (is that the correct term) what I download, but, as you all know, it's a s l o w process (but, oh, soooo worth it!!!).... Yes, we aren't blinded by rainbows... I'm grateful for the opportunity to listen to the music... New and Old... (cause the dirty old rock-n-roll songs are *really* how it all got started, right?) Glad to hear from you, Dan! |

Exactly the song I had in mind when I wrote the last post.. Yes, I used to love [it - dialup], but it's all over now.... I've been looking into ... gulp... other means to access the net!!! LOL
Don't you love the way the tambourine gets messedup up with Charlie's wicked drumming on that song? LOL... What a great song.... but, then again, We ARE talking about "The Stones..." sigh....

Hey, guys... I just want to thank EACH of you for all of your help and great efforts..... I'm at 68% downloading Hershey, and, of course, I have it seeding forever... LOL... I hope I can help speed it along by doing that...
Please find my post entitled "Not 'The Worst' but THe Best... I want each of you to read it...
I really appreciate you and the group... It's great to be a part of this...
Hugs and thanks,
Bevy
P.S. My sentiments are genuine... I hope you know that. |

How can you be seeding it if you are at 68% downloaded?

Okay, then, should I say that I have it set to seed for an infinite number of times? After reading all the help files, troubleshooting and what-not, I was under the impression that it shared/seeded whatever files you have. The impression that I got was that it would stop seeding after 80% of the quota was met... I told it to seed infinitely. If I"m not doing this correctly, please let me know, as the LAST THING I want to do is slow down or screw-up the process... I read the instructions several times... I thought I"d gotten it correct. |

I don't know for sure. I was under the impression that until you have 100% downloaded, you are a leacher. But even as a leacher you are also sharing the stuff you have downloaded so far. Once you reach 100% you become a seed.
How many KBs per second are you downloading? how many are you uploading? You may be able to adjust your settings to get a faster DL speed.
I've only been using torrents for a couple months and I don't know all the details of them. THere are other people on this site that know a lot more about it than I do. Maybe they can help.

Okay... From what I can figure out: You aren't a leech as long as you have your firewall/etc., set to allow others to share what you already have, whether it's fully downloaded, or just partially downloaded. In fact, the "Tracker" is set up to catch "leechers" and gives them a slower download rate based on what they allow otheres to upload... So, I don't think either you or I are leeches as long as we're allowing others to upload what we've downloaded so far.
I agree that you can't seed until the torrent is fully downloaded, but I just wanted the others to know that I have it set up to seed, hoping that it will help things out for others who might want this concert, as quite a few RocksOff members think is was one hell of a great concert.
I'm only on dial-up, and I've tried everything I can to find ways to speed up my rates.. .I'm downloading and uploading anywhere from 0% to 7% (averaging 5 -6) - as the rate is constantly changing.
Other than maybe mis-wording things with my posts, I think I"m doing this right, as no one seems to be telling me I"m f_cking things up!!! LOL...
What do you think? DOes this sound correct? Slow, but correct? LOL
Bye for now,

Dunno, look at Dimeadozen, when you are part of a torrent you are labeled either as a seeder(100% completed DL), or a leecher(anything below 100%).
