Sadly the people only wants the Stones hits, no one gives a shit about a new album, good or bad. That's the true.
ABB remained on the charts until all the fanbase got the album, since then disappeared for ever.
Meanwhile, 40 Licks and Jump Back are selling over 8-10k copies, combined, each week only in the U.S. |

The question is: how the hell Dylan managed the #1 spot? Was it because of Chronicles, or the Scorsese documentary? (Or the fact that the album is consistently good?)
Perhaps that's what the Stones needed to do, months ago: look deep and boost their own status as the quintessential "rock'n'roll band", instead of trying to reach the majority of "casual fans".
And, just maybe, having realized this, that's why they got in touch with Scorsese: they want to emulate No Direction Home. (Probably there's a new live album in the horizon, or they want to sell more tickets; who knows.) After all, The Departure is such a big hit, and the inclusion of Stones tunes in the soundtrack seems like a warm-up for "things to come".
So, in conclusion, the Stones need to hire Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio as new members.
And George W. Bush sucks major dick. |
