MICK SOUNDS OFF Oct 16 2004
MICK Jagger may have produced Alfie's soundtrack but it seems he wasn't that impressed with the end result.
The Rolling Stone was overheard moaning to pals at the bash: "The music in the film is crap, I can't believe what they used." They obviously didn't use enough of his vocals. |

maybe this means the record will rank up there with Exile or Between The Buttons |

Ummm, no, Mick is right for once--the album is crap. Pure and utter crap. Maybe Keith beat some sense into the chap for once. |

But *did* he say that it was crap?
After all there's no definite source. "Mick Jagger was heard moaning about..." means "Someone said to a journalist that MJ was moaning..." And if it makes the slightest shadow of a story (even a ridiculous one), the tabloid prints it.
The whole stuff doesn't make much sense IMO. If Mick produced the soundtrack, he must have had a lot of control over what it sounds like. At least the parts he wrote and sang himself! If they used other songs in the film, maybe that's what he was (reportedly) talking about.

you've misquoted or misinterpreted what he said. He wasnt expressing his disgust with the quality of the music he recorded, but the way it was used and edited in the movie. He's hardly the first person to have scored a movie only to have his music not used in the way he had hoped. |

Yes, this is a silly interpretation, anyway who cares about the music played during the movie, we have an unexpected soundtrack to listend to! |

I care about music played during movies I watch. Especially when it comes to porn. If they would play Stones in the background, I'd be a pornoholic. But, no, they always play stuff that makes you laugh out loud...then your partner thinks you're laughing at his abnormally small penis or his problem with premature ejaculation...and then, oh, wait, I'll stop right there.
Anyway, my point is that movie music does matter. Think of all the good movie soundtracks like:
"Goodfellas"
"The Royal Tannenbaums"
"Blow"
...and countless others, that I know we've discussed on this board before. |

LOL !! And you're right about the importance of music in films (tension building, explanatory, triumphant, tear jerking (porno pun intended)), absolutely, and Mick obviously feels the same way, otherwise he wouldn't be upset/annoyed about the way they used his music in the film. |

Mick sounds horrible on the first single. There's some faux-Keef guitar that shwooshes about, but really, I'm over it. The re-mix with Ms. Sheryl Crow doesn't fare any better. |

What a great single. Mick Jagger keeps on keeping on.
How lucky are we? This guy is still writing, singing, and performing brand new songs.
I rest my case.

I can imagine the rest of the article...
"After talking to our reporter, the anonymous source made a devilish grin, then left towards the nearest bar where he was seen ordering a stoli-sunkist." |

Thanks, luxy. But it IS true. Jason and I watched this porn a LONG time ago, and it was really good--one of those rare ones where everyone is good-looking...not a Ron Jeremy in the bunch. And all of a sudden this "music" comes on...and we just crack up...and the mood is, of course, lost. We still hum that tune every now and then to make each other laugh. I gave that damn tape away to one of my guy friends--I told him it was great...and he and his girlfriend would love it. He never said anything. Maybe they put it on mute. I wish I would have thought of that.
Caro, do you think the "reliable source" was Nanky's avatar? He was up to a lot of mischief this weekend--I can't keep an eye on him all the time. |

Oh! I wasn't thinking of Nanky's avatar, but now that you mention it... I was a bit shocked when I saw it all over the RO wallpaper. It has changed, definitely. There's something cold about its grin now that wasn't there before, you can see that something in it is broken. So yeah, sabotaging Stones projects seems like the perfect way for that poor little thing to get its revenge on the world. |
