LONDON, England -- An antiques
dealer was jailed for three years for
stealing $10,000 of property from the
home of actress and former model
Jerry Hall.
David Bryce, 33, broke into Hall's home in
London last September and stole computer
equipment, candlesticks, jewels and other
items while Hall's two-year-old son Gabriel
and his nanny were asleep.
The burglary took place while Hall -- the
former wife of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger
-- was appearing as Mrs. Robinson in the
West End play "The Graduate."
Bryce, who has 44 previous convictions
including theft, was told his latest offence
was "distressing to the whole of society."
He had pleaded not guilty to burglary.
Judge Humfrey Malins, in sentencing at Kingston Crown Court on Friday, added:
"It was a domestic burglary committed at night when the house was occupied, and
this sort of burglary can result in people being frightened, upset and distressed on
going back to their home.
"It's a very nasty and unpleasant crime."
Bryce, of north London, had left his fingerprints on a silver candlestick abandoned
near Hall's house, police had said.
He had denied taking the items, and said during the trial that he had found a bag
containing two of Hall's silver candlesticks while walking his dog in Richmond
Park. Bryce added, that he had accidentally touched one of them.
His other convictions, dating back to 1980, also include assault and handling stolen
goods.
