Special Canadian Donations Line To Be Set Up

TORONTO, Oct. 5 /CNW/ - MuchMoreMusic has confirmed the Canadian
broadcast of the special benefit concert featuring music industry giants
including Sir Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger and The Who. The 4-hour LIVE
event, entitled "The Concert For New York City", will be broadcast commercial
free, and feature a special Canadian telephone number for those that wish to
donate.
Top stars of the music world including Paul McCartney, The Who, Bon Jovi,
Mick Jagger, John Mellencamp, Eric Clapton, Billy Taylor, Melissa Etheridge,
Macy Gray, Marc Anthony, Five for Fighting, Goo Goo Dolls, and India.Arie will
gather at Madison Square Garden to perform and raise money for the Robin Hood
Relief Fund, - which will distribute the proceeds to the Twin Towers Fund and
other charities benefiting those affected by the tragedy of September 11th.
In addition, celebrities including Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Chris
Rock, Gwyneth Paltrow, David Spade, Julia Stiles, Denis Leary, Meg Ryan, Susan
Sarandon, and John Cusack are also scheduled to be on hand.
In the audience will be 5,000 members of the New York fire, police, and
rescue crews who tirelessly worked to save lives and restore order in lower
Manhattan.

Lazy Bones Hey, this is great news. I'm not one to watch a lot of television and pressume that I would have to request a friend to tape the broadcast via pay-per-view (I presummed). It makes sense, of course, to raise money via pay-per-view; however, I think that broadcasting it through a variety of stations and setting up, as in this Canadian example, an opportunity for viewers to donate is far more effective.
Can't wait.

The hit counter of the ITW board had 1,127,645 hits when it was closed and the Coolboard didn't have hit counter but was on line only two months and a half.
