VoodooChileInWOnderl Grammys To Consider Some Digital Singles




The Recording Academy has agreed to accept a downloadable single for Grammy consideration for the first time, Billboard Bulletin reports. Earlier this month, the Academy was approached by Virgin Records, which sought Grammy recognition for digital-only titles. The label is releasing two singles to online retailers this week via Liquid Audio.

The first, released Tuesday, is "Dig In" from Lenny Kravitz's forthcoming album "Lenny," which is due Oct. 30. Mick Jagger's new single "God Gave Me Everything" will be available for download today. Both singles sell for $3.49.

An Academy spokesperson stresses that there has been no change in policy, and digital songs are accepted only under "very strict guidelines" on a case-by-case basis. In the past, songs have been eligible for a Grammy only if given a traditional commercial release.

On June 16, 2001 the hit counter of the WET page was inserted here, it had 174,489 hits. Now the hit counter is for both the page and the board.
The hit counter of the ITW board had 1,127,645 hits when it was closed and the Coolboard didn't have hit counter but was on line only two months and a half.
