Blue Storm Music in Joint Effort With Hooker Family To Produce Official Tribute To John Lee Hooker

He was, quite simply, a giant in the field of Blues. Without the prodigious talent of John Lee Hooker, artists and groups such as Canned Heat, George Thorogood, and Savoy Brown would have found their songbooks considerably thinner. With his passing, a void was created that can never be filled. Greg Sarni wrote in a recent issue of The Boston Blues News that "like a holy man, Hooker's music soothed the soul, but the King of the Endless Boogie also had the power to vanquish troubles with his shuffling beat. The Healer is gone. We're on our own."

We will never have the live John Lee with us again, but we can honor his memory by assembling some of his finest material as performed by the musicians who loved him. With the full approval and participation of the Hooker family, we will be starting to record our tribute to John Lee Hooker in early October with tracks from Jack Bruce/Gary Moore and George Thorogood. Also confirmed for tracks are Little Feat, Canned Heat, Mick Taylor, Peter Green, LLC and Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown. As with any project of this nature, there will be a great many twists and turns before the final sessions are finished, but we are very proud to say that there will be a track from John Lee's daughter, Zakiya Hooker, who will also be contributing some liner notes and personal photos.
