I don't think there's more wrong with Keith now than at the European shows. The fact is, is that Keith is a 63 year old man with arthritis who has been on tour for over a year. He's just completely exhausted, I bet. It's funny though, how before the fall tour everyone was complaining about how much Wood completely sucked. Now, it's Wood on fire, and Keith in the grave. May be we're all exaggerating just a little bit? And, we're all looking at Keith much closer after the first fall reviews, so it's easier to find his weak parts. |

for some fans,it seems to be hard to admit, when somethings
wrong with our favorite band.Specially younger fans?
keith haven´t had just one off night, theres been MANY on
this tour.Even when he plays rather well, his just not
present.Bodys there,rest of him is somewhere else,home perhaps.Being a fan for 27years,its hard to say,and admit
that somethings not right now,but i have to,because thats
the way it is.
And besides,we still have fans whos living in a fantasy that we´ll see them 10years from now. |

seems to me that his health is an issue now, and yes Pug, i agree they should call it a day if Keith's health is suffering as a result. If truth be told, however, Mick and Charlie have been carrying the band since 2002. |

well,i´m not lot older than my puggie........but been a fan
nearly 30years.On 30years,you actually learn something,not
school things, but stonesy things.I know keith was good in
louisville,and wichita.Boston&jersey way off.
I´ve also noticed,he is very often in wrong beat,or key,or
completely out of tune.
Live with me-cardiff(just awful start),satisfaction been out of tune plenty times, just listen japan SBD´s this year.
This mans way off,and and out of tune.I´m not mocking him,
i´m very worried,i don´t want ugly end.
This wasn´t the case a year ago, when tour started. |

just a musical take on this; people may be mistaking Keiths preference to play behind the beat (a long term habit, noted on in many books inc. According To The Rolling Stones), which is also one of his musical strengths, for a health problem with regards to timing. |

Well sure... that kind of goes without saying. Aging is funny ...it doesn't happen to most people gradually....kind of in fits and starts. My Dad always used to say and I don't quote him very often because we hate each other, but he did always amuse me with this quote he got from somewhere. "You might pay now, and you might pay later, but you will pay." |

Pug is a favorite poster of mine too. I think he's a dope. But I like the guy and I like what he brings to the table here. He's definately one of the characters that makes this asylum a fun place. For the record, most of the time our sparring is purely jokingly - an act just for shits and giggles. He gets it. I get it. We have fun with it.
I just found it so absurd to make an accusation like that. As if they would allow him to tour after suffering a stroke. Its beyond stupid.
I told it like it is from the beginning of this tour regarding Keith's ability. Pug was amongst the many that piled on me for it. But I told it like I saw it and never made up bullshit medical ailments or rumors to try and exlpain or depress people here.
Keith is old. Keith has abused his body for a long time. He's shot. Still the coolest mofo ever. Still cooler than any of us could ever dream to be. But his skills are on the down side. The good news is he's ok. More fit than any of us. No stroke. No sir.
He's Keith. He may be the 4th most talented guitarist on the stage on some nights but he's Keith and he's coolest. They're still the Stones. Warts and all. So enjoy the shows! |

Pug is entitled to his opinion and he clearly stated it was his own opinion he was expressing in his post.
Now...do I believe Keith had a stroke...hell no!
The facts are:
Keith 63 years old
He has arthritis
He's been on tour for over a year
He got no rest during Europe and North America shows because he was busy making a film
The weather in Halifax, Gaints ( to some extend ), Regina and Chicago sucked and was very cold and rainy etc etc
Is Keith's playing up to par this leg of the tour...no....he was clearly off at Gaints and it was easy to spot for those who were there that Keith was not Keith that night.
As OLDKR noted....the combination of the cold, his arthritis and he short-term memory loss....he's challenged to perform at the level we expect.
I hope the long winter off will do some good and somewhat help to restore the man! |

LONG time lurker, love the board to death. First time poster, I guess, memory's a bit foggy at the moment.....
Anyway, my point is, my mom was born on the same day, same year, as Keith. They are exactly the same age. She's abused a bunch of prescription shit as well. And there is NO way she could do what he does. I understand people's concern, I've seen a few shows this tour and am heading up to Seattle Tuesday. I'll certainly know more then as I'm sitting real close to Keith (smile). But I'm giving him the benefit so far. Playing in the cold is a bitch. |

welcome ici...
my sentiments exactly. as i posted earlier, shows in Seattle/Texas will give us a better idea. they'll have a week's worth of rest - and WARMER WEATHER. hell, maybe keith just has the flu, and is toughing it out. if that's the case, he's probably stronger than we think. |
