if i may be so bold as to speak for the the other aussies here - thanks everyone for the thoughts - the ironic (or perhaps just co-incidental) thing is max and i were discussing this topic last week and i said some thing about how we (australians) are fortunate to "live in relative safety on the other side of the globe" - well so much for all that now

By the way, I have a very short fuse on this issue for obvious reasons....however, you have a right to your beliefs and I guess it would be nice if everyone could live in their respective lands in peace, whatever the boundairies....Also, I have tried, Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, and find that these anti-depressants are not effective for me. I liked Klonopin for sleep and Xanax for depression, but thats just me....it's really trial and error with these drugs... |

Glencar, I'm going to take a different approach than jb, and simply suggest that you pull your head out of the sand. Peace to the Muslim's mean's another oppurtunity to strike at western interests while their defenses are down- read the Koran or talk to a Muslim and you'll find that I am telling the truth. It's like this in the Muslim world: Everything- Sept 11, Bali, sniper's, viper's, everything- is God's will. Satan cannot, at any time, upstage God- EVERYTHING is God's will. It's time to go HIGH-TECH- we should only talk peace AFTER that. We go HIGH-TECH on that ass, and THEN they will truely know what Allah's will is. |

A friend of mine who is a muslim from Pakistan, he said the the western world is reffered to as 'pigs'!
Well the muslims are doing the same thing as the Catholics in the Dark ages, only that was 500 - 1500 years ago!! Well most of the of the poor muslims blame the western world for their poverty due to indoctrination, can you blame them?? No just loose the guys who do that!

I don't think so. I won't go much further into what I think but I think you've extarpolated an awful lot from one or two posts. BTW I favor taking out Saddam. I don't see any peace on this planet until Islam is ideologically marginalized to the whacko Nazi bunch of tripe that it has become (and probably always was). I have no idea how that is going to be done, given how firmly entrenched it is in certain parts of the world, but truly believe that it must be. It can no longer co-exist on this planet with societys that are based upon individual freedoms and notions of equality and fairness.
Feel really bad for those people in that bar. Just sitting there enjoying life, not bothering anyone, and then some scumbag decides he knows God's Will better than anyone else. Its just like Pants Mansie said.

Thanks...it's beyond terrible...her fsmily moved to Israel when she was a baby to live on a communal farm in haifa....She was a beautiful teenager full of life...I visited her 4 yrs ago when she was 12...I asked her if she wanted to come visit us in America....she said after college she would come ....we got the call from my sister-law and i have never been the same...I have lost a sister, father, and numerous relatives ...but for a little girl having pizza with friends to be ripped apart is too much...I really learned how to hate after this, and I am afraid I will never be able to forgive... |

I really hate that I too digressed into this discussion when this board was about sympathy for those that perished in Bali, but, the simple truth is sympathy ain't gonna get it done in the face of murder. Anger is a far better self-preserving reaction.

It has really shaken us. The stories are horific. Its pure evil. The burns victims, the dead in tropical morgues with no refrigeration. Although I've never been there, all my friends that have through the last few years all went to that club and raved about how great it was. So many young people go there and were there. WHole Football teams as it was the end of the season with trips over there etc.
For one thing, Bali is Hindu, and I feel strongly for the people of Bali. Bali thrives on the Australian tourists and this will ruin them.
This makes me more sceptical and anti-war on iraq than ever before. Surely it is the terrorism that is the overwhelmingly omonous threat, not Saddam? Why get so distracted with that issue? Yeah there's probably links somewhere there, but fuck, that would (or should I say will) be taking the long route to a problem that is right in the worlds face.
My views are probably (in fact I'm sure they are) the opposite to most here so I'm not going on about it. But I just see the war on iraq as an oppertunist mission amidst a world climate of fear. Terrorism not dictatorism cuases buildings in our neighbourhoods to blow up.
One other thing, Fiji Jim's comment (some time back) (and maybe this speaks for many Americans) that oppersition to the war on iraq by European countries was 'global penis envy' nearly made me vomit. This comment genuinely made me feel sick in the stomach. That this kind of comment could even be concieved makes me very very scared, the fact that this could be believed to be the motivation behind anti-war sentiments. Disscusting.
I will never say I hate Muslims. Not as long as there is one decent Muslim alive in the world.

Wow. This just sucks. I offer, for what it's worth, my condolences to the Australians. They stand by us, friendly people, and that's what they get? That's just wrong.

How about *numbers*? We call our current Base Ten Numbering system the Arabic System... I wonder why? Or how about modern advances all sciences, from physics, astronomy, medicine, on and on... they all occured from around 900 to 1100 - in areas where Muslims and Jews were living in peace at the time of the xenophobic Jewish putdowns in Western Europe. So I would say that none of us would be alive today if it wasn't for the Muslim religion. So don't make generalizations like that. I can't stand it when people say "Oh, you're *Irish*" and expect me to whip out a Guinness and chug it for their pleasure, then write the greatest work of fiction imaginable. (No one in America is American except for those poor Native Americans - we all go by when we came over, and my bloodline has remained miraculously all Irish since 1842 when we came over. I think I might have had a German great-great-aunt, but that's about it.)
Yeah, and I'm Catholic, so you can't catch me there, either. My religion's done a lot of nasty shit in the past few millenia, and continues today. But I try and work around it, work at it from the inside. That's where change comes from. You can't just generalize like that - it's ignorance like that that causes the terrorists to hate us - because jerkoffs like Osama say "*Everyone* in America is rich, Jewish (and then he goes off and says how Jews are somehow bad... I don't fucking understand people at all), and tries purposefully, every waking hour of their lives, to step on the Third World. It's not true at all, but those people are so desperate they just need scapegoats to feel better, because when they've got nothing, what have they got to lose?
