Topic: Daltrey On Howard Stern Return to archive Page: 1 2
10-03-03 08:44 AM
goatshead Roger Daltrey was an awesome guest on the Howard Stern Show this morning. JB will love this as he said he saw McCartney this past year and said it was like listening to elevator music. He said he was awful. In addition, he thinks the Stones are playing great and still rock . He said Mick is singing better than ever and he can't believe how he still gets that energy to move around like that for 2 hours every night.
10-03-03 09:37 AM
jb Great post....I hope the Who tour w/ the Stones next time.

Joey " He said Mick is singing better than ever and he can't believe how he still gets that energy to move around like that for 2 hours every night. "

That's my Rog .

There has ALWAYS been a big rivalry between the WHO and the STONES !

Yet , even Roger knows how well the boys have been playing .

Would love to see the Who AND the Stones tour the states again next year --- It IS going to happen -- I can FEEL it !!!!!!

God I hope that interview is on the Howard Stern " E " Channel Television show soon --

Please ...............tell me more about Rog. said regarding Pete and all of his past womanizing ( Rog that is )

JACKY !

10-03-03 09:58 AM
glencar It won't be on the E show unless Rog grew a pair of 44Ds. And then they'd pixilate the damned things.
10-03-03 10:05 AM
goatshead Roger did mention that he had an agreement with his wife while the Who was big that he could basically have one night stands while on the road. He said he told her from day 1 that is the rock 'n roll lifestyle. He didn't mention any names of the girls he's nailed, but joked that his wife says she's been married to him for 27 years while he's been married to her for 5.

Roger defended Pete wholeheartedly. He said he is the biggest champion of children. He said Pete found a website that made him sick that showed children being manipulated with underage porn. Pete called and sent emails to the police about this site, but they did nothing about it. So he used his credit card to get inside access to prove what goes on in this site, but never downloading anything.
Roger said the police never told the whole story to the press and that the scumbag who ran this site is now behind bars. Roger sounded pretty convincing.

glencar Well, I'm sure he's convinced himself but I still have doubts in both directions about Townsend's actions. I hope he's innocent but I also hoped Michael Jackson was innocent.
10-03-03 10:39 AM
goatshead Yes, the Stones and Who were big rivals, but there was also always a deep mutual respect for each other. While Mick and Keith were being jailed in '67, the Who decided they would record Stones songs until they were released. Thus, we have the Who recording "The Last Time" and "Under My Thumb." I must say that was a cool show of solidarity by the Who.
10-03-03 10:41 AM
glencar Plus Townsend wanted to "bugger" Mick teh first time he saw him on stage.
10-03-03 10:42 AM
telecaster Roger Daltrey is hosting a show Sunday night on THe History Channel. Just heard an ad on the radio

Gimme Shelter I just finished watching my new "The Kids Are Alright" DVD. In the Special Features they have a new interview with Roger where he praises the Stones. He also states that the new material Pete is writing is going to be the best thing the Who has ever put out. By the way the DVD is awesome, the sound is incredible.

Maxlugar I saw the teaser for that History Channel thing and almost popped a lung laughing so hard.

He's all dressed in an Indiana Jones safari outfit telling us he's ready for some EXTREME HISTORY and what not....

What the hell?

I guess it's a step up from Scrooge though.

EXTREME MACKY!!!
10-04-03 01:38 PM
glencar I saw some movie on HBO wherein he played a gay English(LOL Redundant!) record producer. He was oddly compelling.

The Hand of Fate You gotta love the Who. At least they have shown some respect to the Stones in recent years unlike some of the Beatles. George probably didn't care cause he was done with rock (and hell, he was doing Travelling Wilburies stuff in his 40s too so why be hypocritcal), Ringo probably likes it and he considers Charlie Watts one of the best drummers in rock (yes, even ahead of himself), John was always putting on this sort of prick-attitude to them in the late 70s saying they sucked now but he also admitted to being jealous of how they stayed together. But Paul? Give credit where credit is due, Paulie, this group outlasted yours, they still rock 10X better than you and look good doing it. His best recent compliment was just, "Yeah, the Stones have been around for a long time and have done so much that they deserve the popularity. Yeah, they've been pretty good." He was sorta leniant to give them mad props. Ah well, the Who always felt like an inferior rival to the Stones in their minds, hence Pete writing the song "Substitute" self-consciously alluding to being thought of as 2nd rate to the Stones.

jb Lennon and Macca have always hated the Stones...lennon gets of easy b/c he is dead....hopefully Macca will join him soon.
10-07-03 11:14 AM
Jumping Jack I would love to see The Who with the Stones. The Stones would have to turn up the guitars and play their asses off again. They were always at their best with a little competition anyway.
10-07-03 11:26 AM
Joey " lennon gets of easy b/c he is dead...."

I saw the glasses that he wore on the evening he was shot four times and crawled through the lobby of his apartment begging for help on that warm December night in 1980 . They were on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame .......................

.............Oh , they also were " bloodstained " !

Well the fact is that Scottland Yard did in fact publicy state that after examining Pete's computers that none of them had downloaded any child porn. They added that they had every reason to believe Townsend's account after examening all the facts of the inquiry. I find it absurd and sick that the media was so ready to rip Pete's career and life apart, yet relegated his exoneration to the back pages of the papers. The old media adage is so true. "If it bleeds it leads". Pete's innocence wasn't as "newsworthy" has his possible guilt. Needless to say he will never live the false charges down.

nankerphelge Speaking of She Was Hot:

McKEESPORT, Pennsylvania (AP) -- A man who police say posed as a doctor and castrated a transgendered woman at her request was ordered Monday to stand trial for aggravated assault.

Doug Lenhart, 48, also is charged with reckless endangerment and unauthorized practice of medicine and surgery. No trial date was set, and Lenhart was free on $25,000 bond.

Catherine Watson, 45, told a district court judge at a preliminary hearing that she nearly bled to death from the September 12 procedure, which was done on the dining room table of her McKeesport home in suburban Pittsburgh. She had to be hospitalized.

Asked by Justice Thomas Brletic if she wanted to see Lenhart prosecuted, a weeping Watson didn't answer directly.

"I don't want him to do this again. ... I don't think he's capable," she said.

Allegheny County prosecutor Shanicka Kennedy said Watson's wishes were irrelevant because the state was prosecuting.

Watson testified that she is a transgendered woman who became "Catherine" when she was 6. She found Lenhart through the Internet and agreed to pay him $800. He told her he was a doctor, but not licensed in Pennsylvania, and had performed 23 other castrations, she said.

Police say Lenhart has no medical license. His attorney, James Waymard, said Lenhart had "some experience in this area" and said he felt Lenhart was qualified to perform the procedure.

Watson said she was awake throughout the procedure and in "horrible pain." She said she believed she was bleeding internally, and a friend called an ambulance.

In April, a man was convicted in Pontiac, Michigan, of practicing medicine without a license for performing a castration in his kitchen. He was sentenced to 14 months to four years in prison.

Prosecutors said the man underwent the castration to curb his sex drive because he had a sexually transmitted disease.
