Chris74 Thanks. I think Wayne plays very much in a Mick Taylorish style. I guess he has done Hand of Fate then too? Because that one sounds similar.

jb Wayne Perkins made the guitar leads on B&B almost Tayloresque!!!!

Mathijs The two reasons Wayne Perkins didn't get the job was that he sounded too much like Taylor, and that he is American. At that time they wanted the band to remain British.

gimmekeef Thanks for the link...what an interesting read.Amazing how the Stones stint is just an acecdote without any bitterness or what could have beens....Sounds like Wayne would be a great guy to have a beer or 6 with...Are there any boot outtakes from B&B with other stuff he did that was never released?

Mel Belli Perkins was the superior player, but he would've been a weird fit...

There is a third reason: they liked Ronnie as a person.

They had already worked with him, he was a fan of them and wasn't too shy to tell them, he even gave them the riff to "It's only rock'n'roll". I think after rehearsing lots of guitarists they just found out they didn't need another Mick Taylor who was a fine guitarist but who was never really "in the band". Ronnie was a binding factor for many years, at least until about 1982.

texile yeah, ronnie's main criteria is that he got along with everybody.....
