ABC has shelved its third new series planned for fall, blaming a lack of promotion — and resulting low viewer awareness — for the delay.
The Knights of Prosperity, about a working-class group trying to rob rocker Mick Jagger, was to have premiered Oct. 17 following Dancing With the Stars. It now will wait until January, when the network will give it a bigger marketing push.

Instead, Dancing's Tuesday performance episodes, which were to shrink to an hour, will instead remain at 90 minutes until the season ends Nov. 14.

ABC says there are no creative problems with Knights, from Rob Burnett and Jon Beckerman (Late Show With David Letterman, Ed). With nine new shows planned, "we had an aggressive schedule in the fall," says ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson, "and it was a situation of not having the resources and the time to give this the launch it deserves."

But the refusal so far by the Rolling Stone to appear in episodes beyond the pilot has forced changes to both the title (formerly Let's Rob Mick Jagger) and the concept of the show: The team will find Jagger a futile target and, later in the season, will set its sights on others, including guest stars such as Sting, Ray Romano and Kelly Ripa.

Two other comedies, Big Day and Notes From the Underbelly, earlier were delayed until midseason by a decision to move Ugly Betty to Thursdays.

Nellcote And to think she got her start as a Madonna wannabe dancer on Dick Clark's American Bandstand, she had "landing light" hair...
