Martin Scorsese filming upcoming Rolling Stones concerts

Director Martin Scorsese is working on a documentary on the Rolling Stones, and will film their upcoming New York City theater shows for the project. It is unknown whether this is a project about the band's entire career or just the current tour, but the Washington Post reported that Scorsese's film crew will be on hand on October 29th and 31st, when the Stones play New York's Beacon Theatre.

It is rumored that one of the shows will be part of months-long celebration of former President Bill Clinton's 60th birthday, but there's been no confirmation of that, or when tickets will go on sale.

The legendary director has a long history in working on rock films. He was one of the primary cameramen on Woodstock, and shot most of the classic Woodstock footage of the Who, among others.

Scorsese went on to direct the Band's The Last Waltz and the recent Bob Dylan documentary No Direction Home.

Although the Stones have produced about a dozen concert films, they've only had one major career retrospective, 1989's 25x5.

The Rolling Stones will perform on Wednesday, October 4th, in Missoula, Montana at Grizzly Stadium.

Dick Bush Stones, Scorsese and NYC perfectly match alltogether, and Scorsese's new work is a very clear - and good! - sign that the boyz are quitting it soon.

I'll be of course in MSG too, however not for telling them goodbye again.

I'm gonna tell the faded codgers to get the fuck outa there!

Martha Well, I knew this had to be happening after seeing Martin on stage next to Charlie mapping out shots with his assistant DURING the gig on 1/20/06. He was out there for at least 6 songs measuring shots.

I KNEW it was good news the minute I realized it was Martin.

As I predicted, most shows have not sold well. Scorcese will have no effect on sales whatsoever.

Jumping Jack Stones need some decent warm up bands to improve sales!!!

Let's not be unrealistic and expect from Clinton's bashers to be able to make such a realistic anticipation - they aren't even able to comprehend that boobah is the real Stones fan, let alone the fact that the Stones are beyond of any thinkable shape for performing

If you were a betting man, you could make an easy buck on that.

Enjoy watching me in the Scorsese movie, drink one on me!

speedfreakjive this project has a lot of potential if it is a 'fly-on-the-wall' documentary too, with close interviews with all the Stones and the supporting musicians. I hope it doesn't draw too much on the past, and will concentrate on why The Stones are still a major (if not The!) live force to be reckoned with. Because we the 4 Flicks Documentary had a lot of the past in it. I'd like to know why they still click on stage and how they all relate to eachother in private; especially Mick and Keith!!
