Topic: Pick seven stones songs Return to archive
October 4th, 2005 02:35 PM
pavlovs dog Here's a little exercise in set list creation. On this tour the Stones have been doing 21-22 songs/ show. 2 are Keiths, 1 is a cover, 3 from the new album and 9 or 10 warhorses. That leaves 6 or 7 songs to cover their entire catalog. So let's hear the 7 you would pick based on the following formula:

No Keith songs- he picks his own

none of the following warhorses; Satisfaction, JJ Flash, Honky Tonk Women, You Can't Always Get, Brown Sugar, Tumbling Dice, It's Only Rock & Roll, Miss You, Start Me Up.

5 of the 7 songs have to be from the 60's or 70's but not more than 3 songs from either decade.

You MUST pick at least one song EACH from the 80's & 90's.

Finally, what cover would you pick.

Here's my choices:

60's Midnight Rambler, Street Fighting Man, Gimme Shelter
70's Bitch, All Down The Line
80's Let Me Go
90's Love is Strong

cover: Let It Rock by Chuck Berry

so here's the full list (not in set list order):

Satisfaction,
JJ Flash,
Honky Tonk Women,
You Can't Always Get,
Brown Sugar,
Tumbling Dice,
It's Only Rock & Roll,
Miss You,
Start Me Up.
Back Of My Hand
Oh No Not You Again
Rough Justice
The Worst
Infamy
Midnight Rambler,
Street Fighting Man,
Gimme Shelter
Bitch
All Down The Line
Let Me Go
Love is Strong
Let It Rock
cover: Let It Rock by Chuck Berry

Mr Jimmy I'm still reviewing the rules. I feel like I'm back in University writing a Greek History exam and I'm starting to get that queasy feeling in my stomach.

I like this list a lot, but I think that Back of My Hand is a better tune than The Storm, but we are thinking along the same lines for sure.
