NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ --
They were known as the Highwaymen -- Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson -- each legendary in his own right, but together as a group, they were a musical force to be reckoned with. The CMT original one-hour documentary AMERICAN REVOLUTIONS: THE HIGHWAYMEN, premiering Friday, October 14 at 8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT, features rare footage from the Highwaymen's final recording sessions in 1994. Shot by Don Was, producer of the Highwaymen's "The Road Goes on Forever," the footage contained in this CMT documentary is a revealing and oftentimes intimate behind the scenes view of these country
music icons.
AMERICAN REVOLUTIONS: THE HIGHWAYMEN gives a rare glimpse into the personalities of these country superstars, peeling away their "outlaw" personas while revealing that behind their tough guy images, Cash, Jennings, Nelson and Kristofferson were just four men struggling with their own demons, creativity and mortality. AMERICAN REVOLUTIONS: THE HIGHWAYMEN features archival footage of the recording sessions, the group's meeting with legend Gene Autry and exclusive new interviews from Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Jessie Colter, Shooter Jennings, Don Was, John Carter Cash, Rodney Crowell, Billy Joe Shaver, Lou Robin and Cowboy Jack Clement.
AMERICAN REVOLUTIONS: THE HIGHWAYMEN celebrates the Highwaymen as Capitol Nashville/EMI re-releases the group's third and final album, "The Road Goes on
Forever," on its 10th anniversary. The one-hour documentary is produced by Morgan Neville with Tremolo Productions, Inc. for CMT. Lewis Bogach, Sr.
Director of Program Development and Production, serves as Executive in Charge of Production for CMT.
