Topic: No plans for a STONES tour next spring Return to archive Page: 1 2 3

Bitch On a NY radio interview I just heard 5 minutes ago, the interviewer asked MICK if the STONES had any plans for another tour. MICK said they have NO PLANS for another tour, and even though people are saying more shows next spring, they have nothing in the works. This was answered in MICK's own voice, I recognized it.

Crap. Nothing in the spring. Dont you think if it were to happen they would already be planning it? Wishful thinking by the fan's. It's all rumors.

LadyJane Was he promoting his solo work???

If so, there is your answer.

Deflect attention from the Band.

LJ.

Bitch No, the radio interview was very short, just a 'sound bite'. There should be a longer version of this interview somewhere. Maybe on TV?

Agree.....they , particularly Mick, who carries the show, need some well earned time off. The markets are also saturated with other acts who have not toured as frequently , and as we saw last time round, some venues have been bleed dry. I do think, however, that we will see them again in some capacity...Not 147 shows, but maybe 15-20 shows in major markets...

I agree with you and Jizzy.
They NEED a break, but it's not over yet. I just have a feeling that "there will be a next time".

Yes....we hope "there will be a next time" as it seems only fitting they end it with a final US tour for the fans who have supported them so many years.............I am still waiting for the final figures for the gross (estimated at over 500 million) and the amount generated in the US v Europe...

Dan I have no opinion one way or the other but will just say I am so finished with the whole arena rock experience so if this is true it doesn't really bother me at all.

Thank you MrPleasant.......81 was in a sense a "beginning" era for many fans(many college age kids became aware of the band and became fans at this time) and "end" of an era for other fans like myself, who had followed them as a teenager in the 70's... It certainly was the last time the Stones really had an edge and were still considered " dangerous" by the establishment. Yet, this would be the largest grossing tour ever to date, and thus, the Stones were beginning their transformation from "exiles" in the 70's to mega rich corporate band that we have seen from 89 onward.....same for the music...the last tour without the side show back-ups/annoyances (we can only dream of just Stu and Mac) whom the Stones rely so heavily on thereafter...
Lastly, how missed is that Wyman, Watts, Richards rhythm section....People forgot so quickly how important Bill was to that sound.....and Keith was in charge of getting the band into the grove!!! Todays Stones are surely not your parents Rolling Stones....or even the Stones I knew growing up in the 70's ......................

Saint Sway The Best of Jagger is gonna be huge.

with a massive Jagger solo tour to follow in Spring 08.

With Dave Stewart on guitar, Matt Clifford on keys, Randy Jackson on bass and a loop of Justin Timberlake's drum machine providing the beat.

Stones will be left in the dust.

RUE!

Me too. Maybe LJ is onto something, MICK may not want the STONES to tour if he has a solo tour to promote his new release!

But, as jb said, the US market has been saturated with expensive STONES ticket prices. The exception being the STONES finally do the long anticipacted Theatre gigs! I'm not holding my breath!

er....They just ended a three month tour of 30 shows (ie just over 2 shows per week) which took place after a 6 month break.

How taxing is that?

Just because they might plan to tour in the near future doesnt mean it has to be on the same scale as before. And it probably wont be.

He's never toured as a solo act before apart from Japan and Australia in 1988.

He knows as well as anyone there's no real market for a solo tour. He certainly isnt going to be able to charge silly money for tickets in arenas.

His 'new release' comes out in a couple of weeks and will probably be sliding down the charts come mid-October. If he was going to do any substantial touring to promote it, hes not going to wait until 2008.

Saint Sway 'The Best of Mick' cd is still gone blow up

HUGE

Mick's guaranteeing it!!

Gangsta style!

Mick even made a bet today on the radio!! He challenged John Oats from Halal & Oats to put out a solo album and drop it on the same day. Whoever out sold the other, the loser would have to retire.

its so on!
