FPM C10 The PIXIES are getting back together!

I don't know anything about it yet, but it was mentioned during the interview with David Bowie on bonehead Carson Daley's show just now.

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but I have one buddy (whose initials are SS) who will think that's hecka good.
We saw them together back in the day and it was pret-ty danged cool.

Whoo HOOO!!!

Sir Stonesalot Yeah man.

Remember how Kim smoked that whole cigarette without the ash falling off?

Remember the enormous pile of nasty blow? It was a lot less enormous after we got done with it.

Lemme see...Pogues are gonna tour, Pixies reforming, Hmmmmm...methinks things is looking up!

Wouldn't it be cool if Jimmy could catch one of those bands with us?

Yeah. That is the image from that show which has stuck with me. She CHUGGED a marlboro. I love girls who smoke.

It smelled like kerosene, as I recall. Perhaps smuggled into the country inside a diesel truck's gas tank. Remember Rodney Dangerfield's quote- "I hate cocaine, I just love the way it smells?" That shit woulda cured him. It almost cured me.

After seeing the Sex Pistols! It almost seems like we're getting a chance to do the 80s over again in an alternate form. Can a Dirty Work tour be far behind?

WAY cool! Well, actually, since we're entering the Grey Season here in PA, it might be cooler if WE could catch them with HIM.

I typed "Kim Deal" into Dogpile, to see if I could find a picture of her smoking, and got THIS:

Kim Deal is a beautiful miniature dark-skinned elf with exceptionally large ears, silver hair, violet eyes, silver moth wings dressed in shades of lavender. She carries a sword and bow and wears a small backpack. She stands only 2'2" high and weighs in at 22 pounds.

She seemed much taller in the 80s.

um...do YOU smoke, FG? And if so, what brand? And more importantly, have you ever huffed down an entire Marlboro in about 30 seconds without taking it out of your mouth or having the ash fall off?

'Cuz I'm an ash man.

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!
09-25-03 01:51 PM
steel driving hammer I smoke Camel Lights 100's, most say their awful but I like Turkish tobacco.

Was in a Cigar store on Tue and the owner turned me on to a cigarette machine that enables you to make your own filtered cigarettes and the guy made me one of pure Turkish tobacco and brother, it was so good.

Smoking bout' a Pack O' Day Ronnie!

Cardinal Fang Fleabit Peanut Monkey & Sir Stonesalot !!!!

I just got off of the phone with Jean (Chuck's wife) and it IS true. (trust me, SHE would know :-)

Chuck had always told me "no way" (because of Kim) unless he "needed the money for an operation or something". I guess the money that Europe was offering them to play next year is just TOO GOOD to pass up. Jean said they would start there in April or May next year. They'll do one or two tune up gigs here in California. They might even do an album.

One other thing, when you read the MTV story about them getting together privately to jam over the years, that is WITHOUT Kim Deal. In other words just Chuck, Joey, David. That story makes it out as if it was with the whole band. (it's NOT)

I guess money talks.

Nice to talk to both of you guys !!

Later, Cardinal Fang

P.S. Syph and I are also reuniting. We hadn't played together for years and we played together this week for the first time in YEARS. We are even talking about getting Dave on drums and gigging again.

I met somebody else who is FUCKING COOL too. My life right now is TOTALLY GREAT !!!!!!

No, if it smelled like kerosene then it means usually means it was processed in Mexico instead of South America.

Gypsy, you are thinking of that "Turpentine" smell of crank.

"Or so I've read", I wouldn't know anything "first hand"

(my lawyers have advised me to add that to my post)

Let me just say, this last weekend was pure "South America" with your friend from San Francisco Gypsy. (She might tell you more privately ?)

"Or so I've read"

I tasted a LOT of nice things this weekend.

:-)

gypsy turpentine, ether, drano, anhydrous ammonia...all found in crank. Why anyone would put something in their body that is cooked by someone whose house has to be cleaned by a HAZ MAT team is beyond me. Yeah, I tried it once...

Jumacfly i m gonna see Franck Black next month....do you like his solo material guys??
my rate:

1/ dog in the sand
2/ teenager of the year
3/ black letter days
4/ first album
5/ cult of ray
09-26-03 05:49 AM
Phog Frank Black is one of my absolute favorites. I dig his solo stuff more than his work with the Pixies, but it's all damn good. "Teenager of the Year" and "Dog In the Sand" are both sublime. His new one is great, too. He's recently released a version of "Down In the Hole" as a b-side on one of his new singles. You might hunt that down if you can. Enjoy the show!!!

"Whatever Happened to Pong?"
09-26-03 05:56 AM
Jumacfly guess what: the man that manage the show in my town is the man that record my first band demo last week...hope i can meet the man!!!

Phog When you meet him, and I know you will, make sure to tell him to come back to Lawrence, Kansas please. Thanks in advance.

09-26-03 06:29 AM
Jumacfly ok Phog, i ll tell him if i can!
don t you think his voice sounds more and more like Mick s one?? especially on "dog" ?? my example : st francis dawn disaster.....
what do you think of "black letter days??"

cheers
09-26-03 09:06 AM
Sir Stonesalot Oh I love Black Letter days.

I still have my "Death to the Pixies" T-shirt.

I was the first kid on my block to have one.

Lawrence KS? Ever meet William Burroughs?
09-26-03 06:34 PM
Phog Jumacfly, his new record is called "Show Me Your Tears". It is another fine addition to his catalog. Lots of country influence, but in a good way. Steel guitars, etc...

Fleabit, I never did get to meet Burroughs. I have been in his old house on Learnard Street, however. A friend of mine was the first one to rent it after he died. There's a little cat cemetary on the southern part of the property, complete with Burroughs' makeshift tombstones. Really they are just rocks he'd carved on, but still interesting to see. Burroughs was very fond of cats, I guess he had several.
