Jaxx WYMAN'S BAND ARE SET TO BE TOP OF THE BILL

Former Rolling Stones star Bill Wyman will be playing at Colston Hall next month. The rock and roll icon will be performing with his all-star band, Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings on Tuesday October 5, to plug their new album Just For A Thrill.

Organisers say his latest musical offering, as the driving force behind the Rhythm Kings, sees him return to his musical roots.

Since leaving the Rolling Stones as the group's bass player, Bill Wyman has had a successful solo career with his Rhythm Kings.

The group of 11 musicians includes a line-up of top-name artists who will bring back to life the kind of classic rhythm and blues that first inspired Wyman to pick up the guitar as a teenager.

In the past, band members have included Gary Brooker, Georgie Fame, Beverley Skeete, Albert Lee, Mike Sanchez, Martin Taylor and Andy Fairweather-Low, as well as a string of guest stars.

This won't be the first time the rock and roll icon, author, restaurateur and father has visited Bristol.

The Rolling Stones took in Bristol on their regular tours of the country. At first they concentrated on dance halls like the Corn Exchange where they appeared on December 18, 1963. But they returned three times in 1964, playing the Colston Hall each time.

In those days, Bristol was a number one venue for artists on tour.

In the past, Colston Hall has played host to stars such as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd.

The godfather of British Blues, John Mayall, will also be playing at Colston Hall in November

Tickets for Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings are on sale now priced £22.50 from Colston Hall box office, tel 922 3686.
