This sounds like a great marketing ploy to increase sales by releasing it in different covers in each market. Only the Stones organisation could think of such a venture!

I'd imagine it's at the behest of EMI in the US, so as the US cover is different to the one released elsewhere, it's them who are concerned with censorship - which surely would come from government regulated bodies.
The thing is, as the album is basically going to be ignored, if they'd released it with a cover that DID cause some controversy, it actualy would have ended up making more people aware of it and would have improved sales. |
