Ian, I think you only read the people who like ABB.
There are TONS of us on the "other side". Probably a big damn BOATLOAD of us. I will not argue that there are a boatload of people who LIKE ABB too. More power to 'em. But don't fucking act like I'm the only one who doesn't care for this album. Dude this is a STONES MESSAGE BOARD WTF do you expect?
I've been to about 30 shows this year, OTHER than the Stones. At each show I talk to some folks that I don't know. I always ask what they think of the new Stones album. I have only found one person so far who said that they liked it. Only ONE. So in a Rolling Stones forum I would EXPECT that ABB would get some love...because it ain't gettin' any anywhere else.
Dude, my MOM likes ABB. Remember when mom's HATED the Stones? That's what I'm talking about. |

And some hardcore fans also like it. I can't understand howe anyone could be disappointed by it. Honest to God! |

Look, I really really wish that I liked ABB. I waited 8 fucking years for that album. And when I heard it I even tried to feign enthusiasm. But the more I heard it, the more it sounded like a crappy Aerosmith album. Like I said...my MOM likes it. She also likes Whitney Houston, Andy Williams, and Babs! I hear songs off it at the supermarket piped in on the crappy soft rock station. I hear it get played on 97.7 The River. Their slogan is "rock without the edge".
Rock without the edge???? WTF???
That is when it really hit me hard. See, IMO, it CAN'T be Rock n Roll if it DOESN'T have an edge. And I'm not talking about U2's shitty guitar player either. But those fuckwads at The River are RIGHT. ABB has no edge, and it bugs the everlivin' bejeeziz outta me. The Stones...the Stones that I love...ALWAYS had an edge to them and their music. Always. Even Dirty Work had an edge to it.
ABB does not. It's safe and it's dull and it has no edge.
Man, I can't listen to stuff my mom likes. What's next? You want me to start driving a fuckin' minivan??? |

I thought you were getting a Vette? And much of ABB has an edge. Dangerous Beauty, Sweet Neocon, Back Of My Hand, RJ, ONNYA, Look What The Cat Dragged In. Yes, it has some MOR moments but all their albums do. As for any station that advertises "Rock w/o the edge"? Why are you listening to them EVER??????????? |

I dunno man...I'm gettin all hot for a '68 Camaro. But they cost more...and you know how it is workin' for the gov't.
Yeah that is the station that sponsored the Rio show that was in the movie theatres. I DON'T listen to them. They told us before the movie how great ABB was and how much they love playing it.
I really wish I saw thing the way you do man...I really do.
But I just don't. And I never will. All of the songs you listed as having an "edge" is see as dull as Ian's intellect. Just different POVs I suppose.
I think it comes from growing up on Punk Rock instead of Classic Rock. |

I saw some punks early on. Never got into the look but loved the music. Patti Smith at Central Park, Blondie early on, Raybeats, English Beat, other stuff I can't even remember. I'd have to check what's left of my album collection. |

He's one of the biggest purveyors of porn on the web. It's why we always respond to his every breathless utterance.

Second?? Every block you walk in the downtown, you see two/three beggars. And I live in a rich city, actually one of the best in the whole country.
Probably the government is paying for a good publicity in the Wall Street Journal.
The Lula govnt stole more than all former presidents together before him. Brazil is 100 pct stopped. |
