Topic: A Bigger Bang relaunch Return to archive
September 23rd, 2005 01:19 PM
LeedsLungs71 Dear Virgin Records,

It is time to get off your asses and get A Bigger Bang relaunched!!! Here's the plan:

1. Clean up/edit ONNYA and replace "fuckin' up my life" with "messin' up my life" so that Clear Channel Stations radio suits that run the FM airways can play the fucking song.

2. Release the "cleaned up" ONNYA as a single with a dance mix of Rain Fall Down as the B Side.

3. Rush release ONNYA to radio stations with a big payola bonus of $10,000 cash each to the Clear Channel program directors who play the new single at least 12 times per day! If the plays exceed 12 times per day, give the program director some cocaine too. Maybe a few blow jobs for the male PDs and some shopping sprees for the female PDs! Hey, it's payola time again!

4. Put a big red Stones logo (the tongue) on the cover of the album with Oh No Not You Again spelled out on the tongue! Give the retail public a clue that this is a Rolling Stones album.

5. If none of this works then A Bigger Bang will be "A Bigger Stiff" in America...it will be in the "cut out" and "overstock" bins by Christmas.

Saint Sway how about they just stick the Stones back in the studio and tell them they cant come out until they make Some Girls II.

Soldatti The album it's selling well, actually VERY WELL counting the little airplay.
September 23rd, 2005 08:22 PM
gotdablouse Sounds like a plan, especially big on that dance mix of RFD !
September 23rd, 2005 10:33 PM
GimmeExile I agree! "Oh No, Not You Again" is the best Stones song since 1981. That's what they should release as a single.

Too Tough I think the Stones faced a few problems as far as getting their new music out there this time around. Yes, they album is selling very well, but it's not the "big hit" that the chart position and glowing reviews would suggest.

Problem 1: The album wasn't released until the tour was already underway. In a concert situation, where people are in a money-spending mood (parking, beer, t-shirt), they're more apt to pick up the new album (especially if they just heard a song from ti they love played ontage). I have no doubt this hurt initial, out of the gate sales.

Problem 2: Virgin seemed to be of two minds about what song they wanted to be the lead off for the album-was it Rough Justice or Streets Of Love? Now they're aiming for an AOR format with Rain Fall Down.

The_Worst ONNYA is definitely the best Stones song since 1981. Here's an idea for a video too...Shoot a video of the Stones playing the song...Then mix in a ton of clips of all the different Stones & their ex wives/girlfriends etc...Show newspaper headlines, pictures & clips of them fighting etc. It would be funny as hell & a great video!!!

Yes, a really funny video of ONNYA would do the trick. Give the teenagers and their parents something funny to watch on TV!! Great idea.

JaggerLips Look What the Cat Dragged In is my favourite song at the moment. Depending on how I feel my favourite song changes daily. Yesterday it was Infamy!

Kind of agree. But when I read your post , I thought,Well, they've been in the business for 40 years, surely they have the know-how to make an album that doesn't sound over-produced, trashy in places and recycled. So no, I don't accept the good for men in their 60's argument anymore. I expect better after hearing their past fantastic efforts. However, I am glad and very proud that they continue to tour, record and defy the critics.

But surely Keith Richards can hear that the sound on Let Me Down Slow is half hazard and uninspiring, no?

Ach, I know I'm confused and too critical.

Half Nanker Can someone tell me exactly WHERE a new video would be played? Perhaps in Europe and elsewhere but "MTV Networks" are waaayyy too pre-occupied with Reality shows and Celebrity News to actually play a music video. Especially by anything that isn't diva-driven or hip hop.

I should stop right there.

texile onnya is the only thing since sad, sad, sad that reminds me of that passion they used to have ....
i can't stop listening to it-
and worst - i love that video idea....
because it could literally be about ANYBODY -
some thorn in jagger's side rearing its head....
i love the way he screams 'on nooooooo'
over and over at the end - this is what jagger sounds like when he's not faking it.....

Soldatti Forget the video of SOL, bring on the new one for ONNYA NOW!
September 26th, 2005 12:21 AM
texile agree soldatti - are they really going to release the sol video? that's stupid - it crapped out...already.
September 26th, 2005 08:38 AM
corgi37 How about they just release ANY fucking video? The singles have stiffed big time because of a lack of a clip.
