Soul Survivor I wanna play some Stones tunes on the 6 string. So I go on a guitar tab site, and then all you see is chord names! Come on! I want Tabs! I think I asked this before, but we could group up and make a site that only has Tabs (as tabs are exact). It can be a new section for the "Rocks Off" site. C'mon guys, whadda u say?
09-22-02 03:49 PM
stonesmik Why don't YOU do it?
09-22-02 03:54 PM
Staffan If I was a millionaire, and didn't need to work, I would perhaps sit down and write TAB's. it's such a drag to do it!

stonesmik You don't have to trasncribe the songs by yourself. There are great Stones tabs around, especially in songbooks, I got lots of them. I just don't have the time to write them down in HTML. It's hard enough to play them.

Besides HTML tabs are real crap because they won't give a clue about the worth of the note.

Anyway, try this one:

E ----------|-----------|-----------|-----------|-----------|--5--|
B ----------|-----------|-----------|-----------|-----------|--5--|
G ----------|--7--------|--7--------|--7--------|--7--------|--6--|
D -------5--|--7--5--7--|--7--5--7--|--7--5--7--|--7--5--7--|--7--|
A --5--7----|--------7--|--------7--|--------7--|--------7--|--7--|
E ----------|-----------|-----------|-----------|-----------|--5--|

Soul Survivor what song is that
09-22-02 06:40 PM
stonesmik The intro of "Had it with you"
09-22-02 06:41 PM
Soul Survivor can u tab more? please?
09-23-02 04:42 PM
stonesmik What about this one then:

E ----------------------------------------
B ----------------------------------------
G --------------7-----------------7-------
D --------------7--5--------------7-------
A --------5--7--------------5--7----------
E --5--8--------------5--8----------------

Or play the following (in Open E tuning):

E |----------------3--0------------|
B |---------------------0----------|
G# |-----------------------1p0-0----|
E |-3-0---0---0--------------------|
B |-----3--------------------------|
E |---------3----------------------|

There are some tabs at http://www.guitaretab.com/r/rolling-stones/tabs.htm but most of them just indicate the main riff.

If you want full tabs for complete songs you gotta buy some of the cool songbooks. Unfortunately there isn't a songbook for every album (still no "Beggars banquet", for example). I sure know of official & complete tabs for the albums: Exile on Main St, Some girls, Tattoo you, Voodoo lounge, Briges to Babylon, The Rolling Stones singles collection (The London years) - there are also some "greatest hits" books where you might find some tracks not included in the mentioned books, for example "Doo doo doo doo doo" or "Angie". One of the coolest tab books I got is from Japan, covering not only some old hits but even four live tabs from "Still life" (Under my thumb, Let's spend the night together, Shattered, Time is on my side) and "Undercover of the night".

If you're on Linux, visit http://archiv.leo.org/pub/rec/music/guitar/songs/poprock/r/rolling_stones/ for quite some complete tabs

Soul Survivor Someone please try and finish this tab. I am writing in t by myself. Heres what I have so far. Try to figure out what it is. Hint, it's only on bootlegs.

Soul Survivor Eh, wrong. Any other people willing to figure it out>
09-23-02 08:18 PM
Happy Motherfucker!! Personally I don't like tabs(unless it's Lortabs) it's just too much "paint by numbers". I would suggest not worrying about it to much. Just learn the chords and different variations of them. After you get the chords down to the songs, start playing by what feels right and don't get to technical about it. When youre playing Stones tunes, that's the last thing that you want.
09-23-02 08:30 PM
Soul Survivor Ok..........my tab was "Drift Away"

Now everyone pick up your 6 string and play. The tab was made personally by me!
