Yes it was groundbreaking. Maybe too groundbreaking. We don't know yet. History will judge.

Prodigal Son Anyone in the free Western world who comes out espousing how great Chavez is, etc. is A. a goddamn commie, B. blind and ignorant and C. A stereotypical pessimistic left-winger. The people in the USA who come out and say how right Chavez is, etc. and yet see his alliances with Iran, Cuba, etc. as lightweight are no better than the super communist marxist, leninist, maoists of the 30s-70s who were unwilling to see the authoritarian brutality of their political heroes. Everyone who describes the greatness of Mao, Castro, and who once supported maniacs like Stalin is a hypocrite when they, in the same sentence, blast U.S. presidents as "the real terrorists" (that slogan is the biggest bullshit falsity that's come out of this global backlash against Bush) not to mention old tyrants like Hitler.

I'm no Bush backer, but it really is sour grapes most of the time when left-wingers around the world slam Bush's foreign policy. Deal with it, folks (I'm looking at you Europe!). He's not pillaging your country, is he? If he sat there and let radical Islam do their damage on your continent, you'd hate him just as much for doing nothing. Gosh, I sure hope so cause I would blame Bush in that case. But he tried to make a difference, and it failed. So he failed, so at least he gave it a shot unlike 99.9% of the U.S.'s so-called allies. In Britain, it cost Blair his job but I at least can respect the guy for being vigilant and assertive unlike asses like Chirac. Both Bush and Blair had failed intelligence. I just don't see the world being that much better if they hadn't invaded.

Lives were lost pointlessly it may seem, but that has happened in important battles of the past. Heck, some WW2 victories were for naught in a game of stalemate. Think of all the Germans who died for nothing but a heavy burden and loss of military might. BTW, I'm not saying the Iraq war is as important as WW2 but it is a step made to prevent an outbreak of a possible WW3 so it ain't all that minor in the big picture. Now today, speaking of Chirac, you've got France patroling the world like it's the Napoleonic era, except they forgot Napoleon was the last Frenchman with any gonads! Anyway, lot of left-wing opinions on Bush aren't so bad IMO.

As for Huge-hole Chavez, look there's no problem with being icy to America's influence and being socialist in your own country, but when your international relations/comments border on insane and your attitude flies in the face of respect toward restoring world peace, you deserve whatever you get. The UN is a joke for their equal respect given to renegade nations, but then when the US breaks some of their codes of standard it's a disrespectful crime against the world? Starting a nuclear program with intent to eradicate Israel? Oooo, naughty naughty. Invading Iraq without UN consent; you guys are evil!!! Israel gets such an unfair bad rap; some of it wishy-washy handwringing and some pure anti-semitism. Then the way the UN blamed Israel for the war with Lebanon and turned less attention on the real criminals in Hezbollah.

UN seems only willing to tell powerful nations what to do, give lesser ones a mild warning and have terrorist organizations go about their business without trying to put a stop to it. Oh well, the UN is starting to look a bit like the League of Nations these days. So even though I consider myself left-of-centre a bit, it sickens me to no end to see clowns like Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte (I guess Bob Dylan was the true hero amongst the protest music movement of outspoken, anti-war, pro-civil rights crowd of the early 60s because he learned to shut up and put it aside while yahoos like Belafonte and Joan Baez went even further than the causes they once stood for and began sounding like guerillas intent on overthrowing the government) rubbing shoulders with a jackass like Chavez. Why not visit Fidel in his hospital bed while you're at it?: Or drop by Khadaffi's house and tell him how hard done by he was. Yeesh! If you're the US, you can't win no matter what you do.

Hey, seriously, that was pretty good. The Bush Geeks need to hire you up to teach them. I agree with most of what you said, a bit overreaching in several areas, but fine job, well written, factual, and persuasive. What sets this apart from Bush Geekism is the tone and the intended audience - you nailed both of those, Prodie. Really nice job.

VoodooChileInWOnderl With all due respect this is one I really hate, I have friends from Venezuela and this guy stole the country, it will be another Fidel Castro unless something happens

I have a pupil in my part time job as an associate professor at the Chemical Engineering Department @ UNiversidad La Salle, she has told me things that the press cannot write, broadcast or tell in anyway.

If you speak a little Spanish check this

He's the pits, VooMoo - hopefully he will be removed soon. He's just getting in the way of people who want to work, with his years gone by nonsense.

Congrats on Calderon, mi amigo! México vivo! Mongacita!~

Thanks. And as Voodoo's comments can attest to, Chavez is a real bastard. I guess we can all tell a greedy, anti-peace, power-hungry, brutal, hell-bent, out-of-control, egomaniacal, commie-freak ruler of a country when we see one. It's pretty obvious this guy is gonna be trouble in the future. Pat Robertson, god bless the lunatic (or god condemn I guess), may have been right for once when he suggested we have someone assassinate him. Come on, it can be done! Cover up all the evidence. Find some insane asylum, release a guy on the grounds he has family in the U.S. who want to visit him, then convince the guy Chavez is the voice inside his head and voila, problem eliminated.... unless Venezualans and everyone else found the truth.

VoodooChileInWOnderl Hi Moonie! Talking about Calderón, the asshole of Hugo Chávez told the international press that he's not going to admit he's the president as he spent a lot of money in the campaign of "El Peje" (fucking communist son of a bitch)

Chavez and others. Calderon is the most vetted president on the planet - even more than U.S. presidents! That Mexican electoral commission was fair, across the board, and definitive. Its just sour grapes now that Calderon won, that is all. I'm really upset with Obrador, he seemed fair, he was a party to the electoral commission and now wants to renege!

Well, I hope you guys figure it out, and everyone lives by it - we had the same thing going in 2000, and it was a disaster and embarrasing.

Yeah, we're better if he gets waxed, but even better if he just gets marginalized on his own accord, which will happen, especially after that ridiculous U.N. performance he gave.

What a chump, and I am the first to denounce him! Yet again!

Actually RollingStoneUSA was the first to denounce him. I was second.

Curious that not one Bush Geek had denounced Chavez. If they spent more time denouncing scumbags than bitching about America, maybe we would win this war!

Jair I coming right now and I dont know what you said til now, but here's my opinion: Hugo Chavez is a total jerk, a Fidel Castronumber 2. Fucking morom.

While he is worried in attack the US, his people is starving, or am I wrong? What the fuck is this bullshit that he say that "US is the enemy"?

Enemy is his own government, doing what he does better: waste the money people trying to help people from Bronx? Harlem? (Stealing, for sure. One day you'll see how money he got in switzerland and wherever).

And about the fucking Venezuela? Is a rich country now and nobody knows?

Somebody could kill the bastard.
Bet my legs nobody will miss him.

In 30 yrs, tops, South America will be so poor as Africa and then, whats gonna happen with our kids and nex generations?

Down here in Brazil, our president Lula (who can't speak even the Portuguese correctly) stole MORE than any president did before TOGETHER, and he says he is left.

Hey, Lula got jobs for thousands and thousands of friend people of his party. Lula create "new" state departaments that, believe, dont have a headquarter, but, meanwhile, his employees are receiving the payments every month, in home, doing NOTHING. Can you believe?

Where is the enemy, after all?
Kill these bastards, and kill soon! Fucking politicians, why they are not in jail yet?
