Hey Boomie,
Maxy is seldom wrong, but he is on this one. 40 Licks is a great buy. Four, count them one-two-three-four, new songs and one of them is that fucking slick little rocker Don't Stop that everyone is heralding as the "return of the Stones."
When you're into a band, you usually don't pick up greatest hits. But if you're into the Stones......I can hardly wait to spin 36 of the greatest songs ever written on one CD, and then some.

I'm not going to compare any of these new songs to the songs on "Black and Blue", but we are getting half of the amount of songs from "Black and Blue" plus 36 other great tunes.
Damn I love B&B and Forty Licks! I also love Don't Stop.

Nah, Boomie. Never did. I actually went through those wild west doors to the adult section at my local vid store, but nothing caught my eye as really smoking stuff like I remembered from college. Felt like a creepy perv being in there too.
So I went home and got biff can blasted, listened to the Stones, made a bunch of drunk calls to faraway relatives, and probably made a bunch of drunken posts. Can't really remember. All in a good days work.
I fucking love Don't Stop. I will sing the praises of that song until the pistulates on the board wise up. |

Even though I have all the songs several times as most of us do, I will really like this set. Plan to keep it in the car most likely, all these songs we bitch about hearing all the time and yet I hardly hear them at all as most of my time is spent playing various boots other albums, so really this will be getting back to the great ones again, giving them some more play time or whatever. Plus all those songs together without changing discs 20 times while driving. It will be great. Of course I could burn a set of songs myself and have but hey, it's the Stones,I would buy a turd on a platter if they put it out. |

Some asshole at the IORR board says that the Stones "can't" be playing on the new songs. This person says that Charlie is not playing drums on the songs.
What do you think? Is this guy just a prick or does he have some logic? Wait a sec.........maybe the STones never really recorded any songs. Oh my.........the horror, the horror!!!!!! Keith never played, Charlie never drummed, ooooooooh my! WHy, whyyyyyyyyyyyy?!?!?

These songs they written by Jagger the three of them before they go to Paris. Keith's song Keith wrote, not with Jagger. I hate these songs. Mick Jagger's songs probably have that computer that's playing drums like before. He's like a pussy now. Chompin' on grass. But still it's amazing how he dare release these 3 songs to the wild of radio and life. People will hear it and embarrassing for the Stones. Keith is a fool to let him do this but Keith is afraid of him because Keith likes to tour and make money and Mick will whine-woosy if Keith criticiz e him. But these songs are unbelieveably bad and embarrassing. No real Stones fan with brain likes them at all. |

ya know, Mick Jagger IS Mick Jagger. The guy has written some of rocks greatest songs. Calling him a pussy and saying he cant write rock? Huh? Goddess failed because people want stones, not a solo album. How many people do you know that are Mick Jagger Fans and not Stones fans?
Their most recent studio album "Bridges To Babylon" has some rockers that will kick your ass. "Lowdown" is just awesome.......

You're probably right about Mick writing these songs before Paris, but what else is new? Even though I don't think anyone has actually taken time to confirm this (that they are GITD outtakes), it seems to be a big deal for everyone that hates the tracks, for some reason.
Have I missed something, or have Mick and Keith suddenly NOT been bringing their own songs to the table for quite some time now? |

But that's then they lied to us. They said they recorded you know 26 new songs or such in Paris and they said they weren't those they already had. Why? Did the other songs also all come from the solo songs they already had? They can do better. They can write together like with "Lowdown" and I think "Honest Man" too. But I think Mick is lost the self confidence because Goddess in the Doorway was an intenational joke. |
