Mel Belli At DAR Constitution Hall. Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and others also on the bill. Goes on sale this Friday, for those who can make it. Looks to be quite the event -- first tribute to Jimi endorsed by the Hendrix estate.

nankerphelge nice.

When and where do tix go on sale?

Thanks
21st August 2007 03:07 PM
Mel Belli Tickets go on sale Friday at noon. I'm assuming through Ticketmaster, but not 100% sure yet. The show's not even listed on DAR's website, so it's pretty much hot off the presses.
21st August 2007 03:09 PM
nankerphelge That is awesome news Mel - thank you kindly.

I will be seeing you there!

It's been a while since I've Hawk-and-Doved. Where'd the Shidoobeeans meet last time around? The Bottom Line? That's always a dive you can count on.
21st August 2007 06:04 PM
nankerphelge Yeah Bottom Line is okay.
But just okay.
Let me fire up a couple more brain cells and see if I can think of anything better.

Yeah, and Dec. 18 is, of course, Keith's birthday. Is there some kind of talismanic significance I'm missing in that post?

Guitar greats set to pay tribute to Jimi Hendrix...

Robert Randolph, Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Jonny Lang have all been tapped for the next Experience Hendrix Tour, a five-city trek that will pay a live homage to rock icon Jimi Hendrix. The shows will feature many notable guests, including former Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell and Band Of Gypsys bassist Billy Cox. Other guests include Robbie Krieger (ex-Doors), Mick Taylor (ex-Rolling Stones) and Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble.

The Experience Tour last occurred in 2004, featuring Shepherd, Guy as well as guests like Carlos Santana and Joe Satriani. That tour was exclusive to the US west coast, while this year's version brings the event east. The event is put on by Experience Hendrix, a company owned by the Hendrix family that manages the late guitarist's estate. Tour dates are below:

Experience Hendrix Tour Dates
October 16 Washington, DC, Constitution Hall
October 17 New York, New York, Beacon Theater
October 18 Hampton Beach, NH, Casino Ballroom
October 19 Atlantic City, New Jersey, Etess Arena, Trump Taj Mahal
October 20 Waterbury, CT, Palace Theater

justinkurian A second show was added at the Beacon for those interested. I picked up 2nd row seats.

Just curious - does anyone know if this is a complete Hendrix set? Or will there be solo bits, too?
