charlotte Stone and Jagger in festive duet

Jagger has co-written and produced the forthcoming Alfie soundtrack

Teenage soul singer Joss Stone has teamed up with rock legend Sir Mick Jagger to perform a Christmas duet.
The 17-year-old Mercury Music Prize nominee and 61-year-old Rolling Stone have recorded Lonely This Christmas, a 1974 number one by glam rockers Mud.

The pair have worked on the track at London's Abbey Road studios after coming together for a film project.

Stone also sings a version of Alfie, the title song of a remake of the 1960s Michael Caine movie starring Jude Law.

Alfie, written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, was a top 10 hit in 1966 for Cilla Black.

Stone's recording is said to be markedly different from the original, swapping its lush strings for contemporary beats.

Stone has collaborated with Jagger on two tracks
Stone, whose debut album The Soul Sessions has been widely acclaimed, became involved after Jagger invited her to work on the Alfie project.

Hailing from an east Devon village, she has been described as "a white Aretha Franklin" and has two nominations for this month's Music of Black Origin (Mobo) awards.

Jagger has collaborated on the Alfie soundtrack with Dave Stewart, the former Eurythmics musician and a friend of the Rolling Stones singer.

Jagger sings vocals on the soundtrack's key song, Old Habits Die Hard, which the pair co-wrote.

They have also composed the main theme for the movie, which stars Jude Law in the role of the womanising lad-about-London made famous by Michael Caine in the 1966 original.

The remake, featuring Law's girlfriend Sienna Miller as well as Susan Sarandon and Marisa Tomei , is due out in the UK on 22 October.

A spokeswoman for Jagger said she could not comment on whether the Stone duet would be released as a Christmas single.

FotiniD Now this is bad and don't dare take it seriously, but the "61-year-old" and "christmas singles" lines got me seriously thinking of "Love Actually" Those who've seen it should know Lol

No comparison of course, just mighty wicked.

P.S. But really, a Xmas single?!?!

Soldatti The song "Old Habits Die Hard" will be out as single on UK. The release date is October 25th and it seems that will have the others 2 tracks that Mick wrote with Stewart.
