LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Rolling Stones have reissued their hits package "Forty Licks" featuring a Neptunes remix of their 1968 opus "Sympathy for the Devil," but the CD will not be available in North America.

The package was released internationally on Monday, said a spokesman for ABKCO Music & Records, the Stones' former label, which is partnered on the project with their current label, Virgin Records.

It marks the third configuration of "Forty Licks." The first one, featuring a red tongue on the cover, has sold about two million copies in the United States since last October. A hardback package features a green tongue and different photos.

On the new CD, which features a blue tongue, "She's A Rainbow" was bumped to make way for the remix.

The Neptunes remix was one of several commissioned by Mick Jagger (news) and Keith Richards (news), the authors of the original. The lyrics for the concert favorite were inspired by Soviet author Mikhail Bulgakov's book "The Master and The Margarita."

Fatboy Slim and Full Phatt also reworked the song, and their efforts are included on a seven-track maxi-single released in the United States on Tuesday. The single features two edits of each of the remixes, the original song and a video of the Fatboy Slim version.

The "Sympathy" remix debuted at No. 14 on the U.K. pop charts earlier this month. The three-track CD single version features a video of the Neptunes remix. Seven- and 12-inch vinyl versions, with different listings are also available.

The Rolling Stones are nearing the end of the European leg of their "Licks" world tour, with a handful of dates tentatively set for Asia in November.

Highwire Rob Interesting and telling to discover "She's a Rainbow" gets the bump. Do you think they took a band member vote on that?
