WATTS LEFT PARALYSED BY CANCER TREATMENT
ROLLING STONES drummer CHARLIE WATTS was left paralysed by the treatment that cured him of throat cancer.
The 64-year-old rocker is back onstage touring with the band again after bravely beating the killer disease - something he thought he'd never manage.
Watts had to have his lymph nodes removed after the disease was diagnosed in June (05), which left him temporarily unable to move his arms - as a drummer, the most valuable parts of his body.
He says, "When they do that the muscles go. You can't lift your arm. It's like being paralysed. It was a worry because of what I do for a living."
Watts confesses he still hadn't fully recovered when the band began rehearsing for their A BIGGER BANG tour.
He says, "I was 50 per cent fit .We had to tour and I didn't know if I could get through a song.
"You can't stop once you get going if you're a drummer.
"I really didn't know if I could make it back, but it's amazing how quickly the body heals."
