KeepRigid "Have fun! BUT PLEASEEEEEEEE!! But FORTY LICKS!! Support the greatest band in the world!!!!
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!"

I would certainly hope that everyone here buys the new album.

Even if you hate the new songs, do you really think a record label is going to be crazy about backing a double studio album in the year 2003- if the same band's double greatest hits album didn't sell?

gotdablouse KeepRigid - Double studio album in 2003 ?! There you go. Where did you read about that? Is it the Keith "28 songs" boast?

I think there's no question that a record company will be willing to put out pretty much anything the Stones come up with (heck Virgin accepted to put the horrible LMT on a 40 year best of) but the question is rather whether the Stones will have the motivation to record a new CD if even a best of doesn't sell.

On the other hand if Keith doesn't have anything better to offer than LMT quality material, it may be time to call it quits and release the boatloads of gems in the can. Something Jagger was working on last year according to his November interview with Le Monde

KeepRigid It's just wishful thinking, gotda.

But there have been a few rumours that it may possibly be a double-album, and if Forty Licks is a big seller, I can easily see the band and label warming to the idea. We know they have enough material already to swing it, and perhaps the outcry over only getting 4 new songs has let them know fans are ready.

Boomhauer Yeah, but there are too many people that don't like the new songs.

I love Don't Stop; I think it sounds like what it should sound like. Very Stonesy.

I haven't heard any of the others.
