I love Queen's "News of the World". Very artistic, very scary robot and this whole weird art / future thing about it, so characteristic of a large part of the 70s (well, at least from what I know )
And this album also has "Sleeping on the sidewalk" which I consider one of the MOST bluesy moments of Queen, believe it or not
Ah, Queen and their early records, my teenage years back in the faraway 1994... |

Overall, Led Zeppelin has maintained a tasteful consistency with their album covers. My favorite of theirs is the untitled "Zoso" album.
Some other favorites:
Capt. Beefheart "Trout Mask Replica"
Miles Davis "Bitches Brew"
Ramones "Rocket To Russia"
Beatles "Abbey Road"
Velvet Underground "White Light/White Heat" & "Loaded"
The Clash "London Calling" (and to be fair, "Elvis Presley")
My Bloody Valentine "Loveless"
Pere Ubu "Dub Housing"
R.E.M. "Murmur"
Otis Redding "Otis Blue"
Sonic Youth "Daydream Nation"
Johnny Thunders "So Alone" (winner of the "most stoned musician" cover award)
The Who "Who's Next"
Stevie Wonder "Innervisions"
75% of all Blue Note jazz records released from the late '50s to the mid '60s
A couple of the ugliest covers ever:
King Missile "Happy Hour"
Yardbirds "Roger The Engineer"

I lke the albums that used Frank Frazetta's artwork - I think that was Molley Hatchet. Also think Yes had some great album covers (Fragile) And Robin Trower's Bridge of Sighs. |
