Topic: Top 100 Rolling Stones Songs Return to archive
4th September 2006 01:03 PM
RollingstonesUSA Don't know if this was posted before, I just came across it....

Inspired by the countless "Top 100" countdowns airing on stations like VH1 and MTV, Sticky Fingers decided to create a Top 100 Countdown of its own dedicated to the world's greatest rock 'n roll band, The Rolling Stones! The list was created in cooperation with countless Sticky Fingers visitors and the Sticky Fingers staff (me). Visitors were asked to cast a ballot of their top 50 favorite Stones songs, and the songs with the most frequency per list were the ones that made it into the countdown!

ebmp Gimme Shelter is not only the best Stones song, but the best song ever. Period
4th September 2006 01:09 PM
deuce I dont see how Dancing With Mr. D is a better song than Sway
4th September 2006 01:21 PM
nanatod Where's the All Down the Line / Soul Survivor combo? Silver Train? etc., etc.

This list skimps on Mick Taylor's contributions. What is "Fool to Cry," among others, doing on this list?

Absolutely the high water mark of rock music as aural atmospheric artistry, political statement and kick-ass rawk.

Got No Crisis !!!!!!!!!! .... This is TRUE .

Paulcarr87 This list has its faults (like any of these will) but at least it has JJFlash at Number 1. The Sirius stones channel countdown this weekend (not sure if this was posted on the board somewhere) had Can't you Hear Me Knocking at number 1. Granted it was by votes but who actually thinks that's their best song??

Madafaka Your top 20 is full of those war horses that people hate to listening to live!

Where's Saint of Me ?

IMO This song should be in the top 20. It's vintage Stones. As good as any and better.

True, but (most of) those songs BECAME warhorses because they were so great. Start Me Up is a good example of this, but even on the list its way too high...#6?? no way. And it's not RSUSA's list, but that of a website poll...no doubt a rocksoff member like him has much better taste.

Kilroy Rocks Off @ #44?
beaten by Shattered @#19
and Beast Of Burden @#26
Not in my world of list!
I'd switch those two mwith #78 And #79
RT 66 and Rip It up
and I move Rocks Off to the top 20. Something got to move.
