I think Martha is referring to the password(s) that were distributed when you dowloaded "Modern Times" via iTunes.

Tickets are now on sale, until Saturday, for all shows with those passwords.

Soldatti Dylan's Album Headed for Top After #1 iTunes, Media Flurry...

August 30, 2006

To the prophet go the spoils.

Bob Dylan may be old enough to be your grandfather, but he also looks like he’s going to have the #1 album in the country next week, based on one-day reports from our cracked staff of retailers.

The critically acclaimed Modern Times, the third of a comeback trilogy which included 2001’s Love & Theft and 1997’s Grammy-winning Time Out of Mind, looks headed for the top slot on next Tuesday’s album sales chart with a total that could surpass 130k... unless this week’s #1 Danity Kane can hold on after first-week sales of 216k.

The impressive debut for Zimmy comes on the heels of #1 sales at iTunes, a TV campaign for Apple’s music monster, the debut of his XM Satellite Radio show on AOL and some of the strongest reviews of his fabled career.
Dylan's last #1 album was Desire in 1976.

Hits Daily Double

He could top the US charts with the same first week sales of ABB last year.

Great for Bob and his marketing team, it's the perfect release date to get the #1 due low profile releases, not like the Stones releases dates with the Virgin morons (Voodoo Lounge vs Lion King's soundtrack in 1994, B2B vs two rappers in 1997, 40 licks vs the best selling album of the year in 2002 and ABB recently)

Was thinking yesterday that the media hype around this record COULD conceivably make it a #1 here, although I'm amazed to read it could do so in America too...just to clarify, this would be the official Billboard chart, right? They have so many charts there its hard to keep track of.

When was the last time Dylan had a #1 album in the US or UK? Maybe 'Desire' (1976) - although possibly Street Legal may have topped the UK charts two years later, as he played his first london shows in 12 years the week it came out.

Hey Lazy do you have a password?! Yes, I am referring to that password, and I can't locate it anywhere.

I was unable to purchase the iTunes dealio because my computer's operating system does not support Itunes (my iMac is too old...9 years old..it was given to me). When I tried to buy, it wouldn't let me. (I also cannot watch ANY of the videos posted here due to this.) :-(

So I couldn't get the password. (bummmed)

My main concern now is that I'll be on the road (seeing Bob) when the tix go on sale to the general public (9/9) and I am worried about securing 4 tickets for the Denver show ( My Mother is coming to see Bob for her 1st time ever...she's 75) since this venue is so small....I am trying to find out the capacity and had no luck yet but think it might be around 4,000. The Denver show (Denver) is GA.

I hope somehow the password comes through.

Anyone? Please PM me.

Thanks!

Martha!

PS Today is my 15th wedding anniversary.....and Chris is BUYING me a NEW COMPUTER tonight!!!!! (This feels like a dream to me).....
JAXX>> Remember us discussing this subject just yesterday and how I prayed outloud to recieve one? He told me last night late he is getting me one....and if all goes well I will not have these old computer blues anymore!

Gazza Happy anniversary. Nice present. Great to see things are lookin' up!

justinkurian Martha,

I can't help you with the iTunes presale code, but keep an eye out on bobdylan.com, in the tour section. Bob's website is going to release a password, also. Those go on sale next Tuesday (9/5), at least for my area. Here's the link:

http://www.bobdylan.com/moderntimes/tour/main.html

If you go to ticketmaster, and click on the show you want, you can see on the right hand side that there's a seperate (albeit later) presale for bobdylan.com readers.

I really didn't want to buy the album twice. And I was able to score 2nd row seats (on Bob's side) at the Beacon Theater last year through Dylan's website. So, I'm hoping it works again!

Hope this helps...

Lazy Bones Happy Anniversary, Martha (and Chris)!

No, I don't have the iTunes pword(s).

I'm guessing that each password given to each purchaser would be unique for each person. Isn't each password good for only one show?

Yes this is what they did...each person got a unique code so I can't use anyone's code if they've used it. But justink just gave me a head's up for the second presale...THANK YOU! I hadn't seen this option yet.

You guys are so good to me!

Thank you......very kindly!!!!!

(Here you go glencar....have at it!)

Joey (kins) LOL

Born in Red Hook, Brooklyn, in the year of who knows when
Opened up his eyes to the tune of an accordion
Always on the outside of whatever side there was
When they asked him why it had to be that way, "Well," he answered, "just because."

Larry was the oldest, Joey was next to last.
They called Joe "Crazy," the baby they called "Kid Blast."
Some say they lived off gambling and runnin' numbers too.
It always seemed they got caught between the mob and the men in blue.

Joey, Joey,
King of the streets, child of clay.
Joey, Joey,
What made them want to come and blow you away?

There was talk they killed their rivals, but the truth was far from that
No one ever knew for sure where they were really at.
When they tried to strangle Larry, Joey almost hit the roof.
He went out that night to seek revenge, thinkin' he was bulletproof.

The war broke out at the break of dawn, it emptied out the streets
Joey and his brothers suffered terrible defeats
Till they ventured out behind the lines and took five prisoners.
They stashed them away in a basement, called them amateurs.

The hostages were tremblin' when they heard a man exclaim,
"Let's blow this place to kingdom come, let Con Edison take the blame."
But Joey stepped up, he raised his hand, said, "We're not those kind of men.
It's peace and quiet that we need to go back to work again."

Joey, Joey,
King of the streets, child of clay.
Joey, Joey,
What made them want to come and blow you away?

The police department hounded him, they called him Mr. Smith
They got him on conspiracy, they were never sure who with.
"What time is it?" said the judge to Joey when they met
"Five to ten," said Joey. The judge says, "That's exactly what you get."

He did ten years in Attica, reading Nietzsche and Wilhelm Reich
They threw him in the hole one time for tryin' to stop a strike.
His closest friends were black men 'cause they seemed to understand
What it's like to be in society with a shackle on your hand.

When they let him out in '71 he'd lost a little weight
But he dressed like Jimmy Cagney and I swear he did look great.
He tried to find the way back into the life he left behind
To the boss he said, "I have returned and now I want what's mine."

Joey, Joey,
King of the streets, child of clay.
Joey, Joey,
Why did they have to come and blow you away?

It was true that in his later years he would not carry a gun
"I'm around too many children," he'd say, "they should never know of one."
Yet he walked right into the clubhouse of his lifelong deadly foe,
Emptied out the register, said, "Tell 'em it was Crazy Joe."

One day they blew him down in a clam bar in New York
He could see it comin' through the door as he lifted up his fork.
He pushed the table over to protect his family
Then he staggered out into the streets of Little Italy.

Joey, Joey,
King of the streets, child of clay.
Joey, Joey,
What made them want to come and blow you away?

Sister Jacqueline and Carmela and mother Mary all did weep.
I heard his best friend Frankie say, "He ain't dead, he's just asleep."
Then I saw the old man's limousine head back towards the grave
I guess he had to say one last goodbye to the son that he could not save.

The sun turned cold over President Street and the town of Brooklyn mourned
They said a mass in the old church near the house where he was born.
And someday if God's in heaven overlookin' His preserve
I know the men that shot him down will get what they deserve.

Joey, Joey,
King of the streets, child of clay.
Joey, Joey,
What made them want to come and blow you away?

I am waiting for our Joey (kins) to write his version using the existing lyrics. :-)

I like the song. It's not my fav song (shhh don't tell Joey I said that) but I'll take it anytime live. For me it's a great privilege to get to see Bob each and everytime we make it to a show....I never EVER take that for granted. :-)

Nellcote Did Dylan lift Muddy on Someday Baby?

Here's Muddy's lyrics on "Trouble No More"...

By mckinley morganfield
Copyright 1955 (renewed 1983) watertoons music (bmi)
Dont care how long you go,
I dont care how long you stay,
Its good kind treatment,
Bring you home someday.
Someday baby, you aint gonna trouble,******
Poor me, anymore.
Now you keep on bettin,
That the dice wont pass.
Well I know, and I know,
Whoa, oh youre livin too fast.
Someday baby, you aint gonna trouble,
Poor me, anymore.
Yeah, Ill tell everybody,
In my neighborhood.
Youre a kind little woman,
But you dont do me no good.
But someday baby, you aint gonna trouble,
Poor me, anymore.
I know youre leaving,
If you call thats gone.
Oh without my lovin yeah,
Oh, you cant stay long.
Someday baby, you aint gonna trouble,
Poor me, anymore.
Well good bye baby,
Yeah well take my hand.
I dont want no woman no,
Who cant have no man.
But someday baby, you aint gonna trouble,
Poor me, anymore. trouble no more.
Oh yeah... yeah babe.

Someday Baby

I don't care what you do, I don't care what you say
I don't care where you go or how long you stay
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry po' me any more ****

Well you take my money and you turn it out
You fill me up with nothin' but self doubt
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry po' me any more

When I was young, driving was my crave
You drive me so hard, almost to the grave
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry po' me any more

I'm so hard pressed, my mind tied up in knots
I keep recycling the same old thoughts
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry po' me any more

So many good things in life that I overlooked
I don't know what to do now, you got me so hooked
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry po' me any more

Well, I don't want to brag, but I'm gonna ring your neck
When all else fails I'll make it a matter of self respect
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry po' me any more

You can take your clothes put 'em in a sack
You goin' down the road, baby and you can't come back
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry po' me any more

I tried to be friendly, I tried to be kind
I'm gonna drive you from your home, just like I was driven from mine
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry po' me any more

Living this way ain't a natural thing to do
Why was I born to love you?
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry po' me any more
