gotdablouse Hum...the guy just uploaded a 320kbps (ouch) mp3 sample of Mannish Boy on the ultra fast ftp of a shidoobee member.
It sounds ok, but it seems to be mono or very weak stereo.
Maybe those with a fast connection who set up a trade can upload the concert when they get it, maybe in 128kbps or 160kbps mp3s.
here's the login info:

Dan My CD burner died the morning of 9/3 after 23 months of heavy daily use.
Hopefully I will be trading at least DAT clones in the next few weeks.

Gazza >I am new to this board and I love it you guys are the best. Do you guys have trees for shows. Currently I am burnerless but in the near future hope to have one. Can i somehow be included in the distribution of the Fleet show

Thanks for the compliments..and welcome to the board.

first of all, whenever we get the tree for this and any show set up it'll be open to ANY registered user of ROCKS OFF. Not having a burner wont be a problem as when youre signing up for the show, you'll be asked if you want to register as a leaf (ie youre not making copeis for others on the tree) or a "branch". Obviously, if youre accepted as a branch (and depending on demand, maybe not everyone will be..) then you'll theoretically get your copy before those who have registered as a "leaf". You'll be able to get your copy from your "branch" either by sending them blanks and postage (B&P) or by arranging a trade for the recording from one from your own collection

I the next days/weeks, we'll have a page on the board dedicated to CDR trees (I'm also working on a 2-tape VIDEO compilation of the Stones' 40 year career which will eventally be offered as a tree..that might take a month or two yet however as I'm waiting on upgardes of some material for use on the project).

Once a recording is offered as a tree, there will be a limited sign-up period (maybe a week or 10 days or so) for which you can register to be part of it (it has to be limited so we can arrange distribution quickly as once this tour gets rolling, shows will be circulating thick and fast). I have set up an e-mail account especially for this purpose ([email protected])which will ONLY be used for tree sign ups and queries etc. (PLEASE dont e-mail it yet to apply for participation in any tree until one is confirmed)

as I posted a while back, ideally I'd like to tree EVERY circulating show on CDR from this tour as far as possible. Whether its practical or not,who knows, but we'll give it our best shot. I'm probably gonna be declared clinically insane at the end of it all,but it s not telling me anything I didnt suspect already.

The success or otherwise of the whole venture simply depends on people circuating the shows in as excellent quality as possible (and in complete form)and promptly and everyone who registers keeping their part of the bargain and following the rules and instructions. The idea is to circulate the shows for everyone in a way which a) will save people spending around $40-50 from bootleggers for each show and b) will give them a recording of each show for nothing more than the price of a couple of blank CDR's and return postage.

Please note that apparently the club show in toronto (16/8/02) will also soon be available in excellent quality on the Crystal Cat label (a well known bootleg label specialising in high quality recordings). Obviously if anyone gets a copy and wishes to "tree" it,it would be greatly appreciated.

Keep spreadin' the music.

Soul Survivor you're great

tumblingdice Now would be a great time for those not used to burning to learn the DAO method of burning with no track gaps. Passing the show on is great but we all want a good copy. If you not sure try to learn it before hand.

Mickjagger1963 Thanks for clearing it up Gazza, I love this board.

TheSavageYoungXyzzy Thank you, Gazza! We all owe ya!

Indeed - we'll need to teach the uninformed the glories of copying properly and so forth. But I'm sure this and more will be covered as we start 'treeing these muthahfukahs'.

1stonesfan Gazza -

I'm new to this board (though I have been a viewer many a time). I've transfered my own FM tapes from Hampton '81, Atlantic City '89, Miami '94 and St. Louis '97 to CDR with pretty damn good results if I say so myself using Sony EZ Audio. I know my Hampton '81 home made copy blows away the Dandelion recording of the same show, for example. I'm willing to be a 'branch' for shows made available if you can explain the proper branch etiquette/techniques...otherwise as a CD burner newbie I'd like to be listed as a leaf for these shows.

I was at Fleet and Gillette, and have the Orpheum wristband on as I sit here and type. I'm an old (41) Stones fan first turned onto them by a cousin in 196? when she gave me Green Grass/High Tides because she didn't like that record. Been hooked since...

Your job on those shows sounds great!! no doubt you'll be able to trade some of those shows once we get the tree up and running.

thanks for your (and everyones) comments and welcome to the board. once we set up a separate page on this board regarding the CDR trees, there'll be an explanation of how a tree system works for everyone unfamiliar with the practice.. we did do a CDR tree for Wembley 11/6/99 a couple of years back and it went well, although some people had problems..hopefully we'll iron that out.

Like I said,no need to register yet as a branch or leaf..we'll sort that out once its announced...all being well,we should have something in the next week or so to tree

Soul Survivor and you said it would be for every show?

chevysales this is not meant as a flame so please don't take it that way but i believe i am responding to the first poster with reagrds to the upload of a personal recording and its bit rate.
no 128 joint stereo shit!

i read what the mp3 expert said to you on the other board http://pub6.ezboard.com/fshidoobeewithstonesdougfrm19.showMessage?topicID=1331.topic and if you can't tell the difference then go read a little at these sites.
nowadays it is common for the pc to be an entertainment center with klipsch 5.1 speakers etc..... wether it be from dell or alienware.
computers are mini recording studios setup properly we know have all the software one can need to produce excellent recordings that will rival a store bought.

now these recordings aren't great quality to begin with so going with 128kbs one may as well listen thru their modem speaker

anyhow try variable bit rate using a good codec like lame 3.92 and even ECDC 5 platinum can produce good MP3's.

about encoders quality.....
