Fuck! |
from IORR, Thanks to Didi
chuck did a private show in austria (Schloss Esterhazy) yesterday (for about 150 people). it was a one man show, only he and a piano, he did some good songs, alberta-alberta, giorgia, htw, down the road apiece, route 66 and some songs from his recent cd.
after the show we had dinner, and i could talk with him some minutes.
Show next year:
not sure, but could be!
European tour:
he is very confident that there will be another tour in the next years, he hopes that the stones make a new record, because he wants to play some new songs.
Why only one song from BB 2007:
It is Mick who insist to play the best known songs, he wants the people to sing along, chuck always try to put in some rare played songs (new and old), and he promised me that he will go on trying to get some rare songs in.
Then we talked a lot about slane, they liked it so much there, and yes, they filmed it.
So, that`s all, nothing special, but i think we can be confident for getting a new tour.

Dunno - seems like Chuck does a too-loud one-man show every night with the Stones. It might be worth changing the sound by changing the swell-headed piano player. |

Good to see Chuck endorsing the 'European shows' talk I heard last week.
I mentioned this a few days ago but it seemed to get buried http://novogate.com/board/968/238584-2.html |

For the benefit of Euro fans who are feeling a bit left out at all this talk about next year, a little birdie is telling me we shouldnt be too disheartened.
It's expected that the promotional shows around the release of 'Shine A Light' will indeed include some gigs in Europe.
If it comes off, remember where you heard it first.
you mean this bit?
sounds great, but what's the source Gazz?

If I said that, I wouldnt get any more tidbits of info!
Whether it comes off obviously its a bit early to say, but it seems to be quite probable.
Can't imagine it'll be more than a small number of shows in major markets, though. |

They dont plan that far ahead, and at this stage of their lives, they simply can't
I dont think theres any plans for a live album.
'Shine a Light' will be out earlier than June 2008. I was told it could actually be premiered at Cannes (which is May) or at Venice (which is around THIS time of year), but it will probably be Apri/May
I would be absolutely amazed if they make a new studio album for several reasons (no record contract, no motivation to play new songs in conncert, no need to put out a fresh 'product' if they're not doing a tour of a similar length to what they usually do)
World Tour of club gigs? It'll never happen.
Expect shorter bursts of touring in future, but without the lengthy breaks in between that we've been used to til now. They wont do any more 1-2 year long tours but at the same time know that in their mid 60s they cant take 2-3 years off between tours.
I think in the first half of next year there may be a short trip to Asia (there seem to be plans afoot for this), then some North American arena shows and it would appear some shows in Europe. |

I would be surprised if they did not record another studio album. Chuck seems to be hinting at it, and odd as it seems, Chuckie seems to be the driving force these days. ABB always sounded to me like a band finding their "sea legs" again and not a final statement. But they need to divorce themselves from Don Was, find a producer who will challenge the band to make the gritty, raw album they still have in them. Also, to record an album without consideration to where it will chart. The question is if the band can overcome its over two decade trend of self conscious decision making. |

I can't think of more shows next year in Europe.
At least in "Old-Europe" ticket selling was too bad.
Perhaps some club or arena gigs just to promote the movie.
That wouldn't be bad! But I doubt it! |

A tour or group of shows backing up the film Shine a Light?
To tour behind a movie is stupid. Period.
They are a rock n roll act. They will tour behind a new album next time out.
